In the wake of latest news and updates, we have come across some invitations that are being sent out by Motorola, now a subsidiary of Lenovo Group Ltd., for the launch of their next device in the Moto Lineup. Although the invitation doesn’t clearly state the name of the device being launched, our speculations say that it has to be the Moto X4. Since Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus have been launched and there are apparently no other phones in news and rumours, this leaves us with no other phone but the Moto X4.
Also, it wasn’t long ago that the entire specifications sheet for the device had ‘leaked out.’ So it is safe to assume that the phone we’re expecting could very well be the Moto X4. The device has been in talks for a long time. Also, it has been some time since Motorola brought in a good device. The device is said to be a mid-range to upper-mid range device, with a 5.2-inch wide Full HD display, available in blue, black and rose pink colours. The phone is rumoured to be IP68 certified, which means that the phone will be dust and waterproof, sitting in the range of Samsung Galaxy S8.
Under the hood, the phone will sport robust hardware. We have tipped about the SNapDragon 630 SoC chipset, with two memory variants 3GB RAM/32GB Storage | 4GB RAM/64GB Storage, quick charge 3.0 and a 3000mAh Li-ion non-user removable battery. On the rear panel, there will be a 12MP+8MP dual-pixel AF camera with f/2.0 + f/2.2 lenses. The camera will have the secondary lens capable of capturing images in a 120° wide-angle. On the front, we’re expecting a 16MP AF camera optimised for taking selfies. Smartphones are getting more and more selfie-centric by the passing day. The front camera will be capable of capturing 4K videos.
The phone will be placed in the mid-range given the specifications. Since there’s no high-end processor, there is not much to be expected. The phone will not be laggard though. Well optimised for power balance and performance, the SnapDragon 630 is a bit advanced version of the tried and tested 625, with the heating issue resolved. The new phone is a big upgrade from the Moto X3, which had rather modest features compared to the new one.
Although we still aren’t sure which phone will be released on the said date and our guess is highly inclined towards the Moto X4 itself, it is distantly possible for Motorola to launch the Moto Z2 as well. Why? Not long ago, they showed six new mods, and if you have mods, you need the phone that supports them too. We’ll have to wait until August 24 to get the real picture.
