As Nokia has established themselves as an important brand especially for the mid-range smartphones, the Finnish company will soon launch another smartphone for the lower end of the market. Nokia 2 does have limited features but a big battery could get your attention to buy one.
Again, Nokia 2 has a battery of 4100mAh capacity, which is more than what a premium phone like Google Pixel 2 possess(2700mAh) and the makers of this phone, HMD Global, claims that this phone can function up to two days on a single charge.
The 5-inch(1280x1280p) smartphone is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor Snapdragon 212 chipset along with Adreno 304 GPU. It is equipped with LTPS display with 1:1300 contrast ratio and Corning Glass 3 protection. From style to finishing of the product, Nokia has always been great when it comes to the body of the phone. The phone is covered with the polycarbonate body and 6000 Series Aluminium frame.
This phone also offers a decent camera, with 8MP autofocus camera in the back and 5MP fixed focus camera for the selfies, photos and videos of modest quality can be captured.
Nokia 2 comes with 8GB of internal storage which can be expandable up to 128GB via microSD card in a hybrid dual-SIM setup. For the connectivity, Nokia 2 supports 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.1, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, FM radio, micro-USB and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The sensors equipped in this phone are an ambient light sensor, accelerometer, digital compass and proximity sensor.
The phone will run the Android 7.1.1 which would be identical to the stock Android version. Android Oreo is confirmed to be released for this phone very soon post-launch. Nokia 2 will be available in black, copper and white options.
The Nokia 2 is priced at 99 euros (approx AED 325) but this smartphone will be priced around AED399 when it is available in UAE. It was launched in India in a moving metro train where experts could get the first look in this budgetary smartphone.
Looking at the specs and the price, the quality of this phone is compared to that of Xiaomi Redmi 4A. Although Nokia 2 may have limitation such 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage, the durability(two days battery life) of Nokia 2 can be considered as the main difference.
In the end, we can say that HMD global is making their efforts and investment to make Nokia chart in the territory of smartphones, whether making mid-range phones like Nokia 3 and Nokia 8 or giving quick access to Android Oreo to their latest smartphones. There is no shadow of a doubt that Nokia deserves its spot in the smartphone catalogue but they must remember that there are already well-established companies making low-range and mid-range smartphones in Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei and Lenovo. At this moment, Nokia has a big mountain to climb and time will only tell if they prosper.
