Just days after OnePlus made a global announcement to host an event on June 20, where they’ll be unveiling their next flagship OnePlus 5, the Oppo subsidiary has tied up with the china retailer Jingdong, and is available for booking before the global release. The booking are open from today and will continue till June 22. The global launch event is slated to take place on June 20, and the phone will be available from June 22. The pre-orders and reservations are now open.

OnePlus had earlier also revealed that the device will be free for a purchase, and there will be no invite system applicable for purchasing the OnePlus 5. OnePlus had used the marketing strategy for OnePlus One and OnePlus Two extensively. This had allowed the company to create a sensation as people now wanted an ‘invite’ to become a part of a club where not many people were allowed to come. The strategy paid off well and OnePlus became a popular brand quickly. Later on, they scrapped the invite system in favour of targeting more sales and the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T are now available for purchase freely.

The reservation plan is also a well-thought marketing strategy to ensure the first batch of their next flagship is sold out the moment it is released. This will put the world in a frenzy to get their hands on the phone, which was ‘sold out’ right after release. Samsung used the same strategy for Galaxy S7 and S7 edge; Xiaomi does this for every phone they launch – Be it Mi5, Redmi Note 4 or the recently released Redmi 4. Anyway, we are sure Oppo Mobiles do have a very good plan, as the subsidiary brand is doing very well and already created a lot of hype around the globe.

Coming back to the news about the phone once again, it is now confirmed that the OnePlus 5 will have a dual-lens camera; the setup will be horizontal and will feature a 16MP sensor on the 1st primary and another 16MP sensor on the second primary. This will allow the device for optical zooming abilities. Other news that has been confirmed about the phone is that there will be two variants available for purchase – one with 6GB RAM & 64GB internal storage, and another with 8GB RAM & 128GB internal storage. As usual, there will be no option of increasing the storage(we too believe 64GB is more than sufficient, for now).

The phone will be available in the UAE after the official launch globally. However, it is not yet clear whether or not we will be able to import the device. The phone will be available for a price far less than the premium flagship devices that are currently present in the market. We are sure the OnePlus 5 will deliver a performance that would exceed even Galaxy S8. Let’s wait for June 20 till then.
