Google entered the smartphone market in 2016 using its own branding for the first time. Earlier, Google had collaborated with Nexus to bring their range of smartphones post which, they decided to bring phones with its own branding. Google brought in the Google Pixel smartphone in October last year as a flagship phone to compete directly with Samsung Galaxy S7 and Apple iPhone 7.
The Google Pixel did start off better than what Nexus did and currently has a global market share of approximately 0.020%. Although the phones are gaining popularity, Google still has a long way to go before it can challenge the market leaders; its intentions with the premium specifications and performance are clear in this regard.
Lately there have been a many news of an upcoming successor to the Google Pixel – apparently named Google Pixel 2. The news has surfaced in the wake of rumours about the successors to the premium flagships from Apple and Samsung; (Samsung Galaxy S8 is currently trending hot in the rumours section and is inarguably the most awaited phone currently).
Google Pixel 2 will come as a successor to the current flagship phone from Google – The Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL. Google pixel, although hasn’t captured the market yet, does have an impressive handset, an amazing camera, premium looks and great build quality. Google Pixel 2 would definitely have the same looks and quality.
From what information we have gathered about the rumoured phone, it is evident that Google will be bringing the Pixel 2 to directly compete the upcoming phones from the smartphone giants. The specifications of the phone are in the same line as that of Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8.
We even have a table prepared for your consideration:
