The Alcatel One Touch Flash Plus released in May 2015 has some interesting smartphone features packed in at a reasonable price. This Android Kitkat phone was considered to be one of the best smartphones with an Octa-Core processor at the time of its release. In fact, given its looks and design, it was considered to be in the category of a ‘phablet.' For the price range that it falls in, it was regarded as a good buy when it first launched, considering its features, especially the camera provisions that are one of the best in the market. However, more smartphones that released it in 2016 surpassed some of its features and provisions.
With a weight of 147g and a display of 5.5 inches, the Alcatel One Touch Flash Plus is 8mm thick and is considered to be a ‘phablet’ by its looks and design. It is not exactly the thinnest or most chic looking phone around, as the focus is more on the features than the design. However, it does look smart and sturdy from the outside, giving it a good business-like vibe. It is available in two colors – slate and gold. The display is quite sharp, and the Alcatel One Touch Flash Plus has a Capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors. The resolution is 720 x 1280 pixels with a pixel density of 267ppi. It is slightly less as compared to other smartphones in the market in the same range but is still decent enough. The phone also features multi-touch options with up to five fingers.
Alcatel One Touch Flash Plus functions on Android OS v4.4.4 (KitKat) and the chipset is Mediatek MT6752M. The CPU is Octa-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53, which couples with Mali T760MP2 GPU to ensure that you enjoy smooth functioning of the phone without worrying about lags. There are no problems while watching videos or playing games for long hours. It’s a Dual SIM phone with a 16 GB internal memory and 2GB RAM. There is an additional slot for microSD, with the memory extendable till 32GB. There are Accelerometer, proximity and compass sensors with HTML 5 browser, but no Java support. There are an in-built document viewer and photo/ video editor, making it a friendly phone for business and personal uses, both. For heavy users of smartphones, the configuration is strong enough to support quick and efficient performance for a long time.
The Alcatel One Touch Flash Plus widely became popular because of its cameras. It has two cameras - the primary 13 MP one, and the secondary or front camera being 8 MP, both with autofocus. For selfie lovers, the 8MP camera for a smartphone in a price range like this is quite an achievement. The quality of the pictures is pretty good, and there are helpful features such as face detection, geo-tagging, touch focus, panorama, and HDR. The video recording is 1080p@30fps, which is again, one of the best in the market. The video player specifications include Xvid/MP4/H.264, while the audio player works with most of the standard formats like MP3, AAC+, WAV, Flac. It is good for those who like to watch a lot of stuff on their phones and their life practically runs with it.
The battery is 3500mAh Li-Ion, which means that there are long hours of usage guaranteed with the phone. The talk time on 2G goes till 30 hours, and up to 10 hours on 3G. Connectivity and networking options have the usual 4G, 3G, GPS/A-GPS, Mobile hotspot, USB port (microUSB V2.0), Bluetooth v4.0 and Wi-Fi for easy and convenient use anywhere and everywhere you’d like. There is also the facility for FM Radio, something that acts as a plus-point for a phone in this category. Most of the battery and connectivity features in this phone are at par or better than the smartphone options that launched in 2015. Only a few of the models in 2016 have been able to surpass these features, but even then, the battery life for Alcatel One Touch Flash Plus acts as a bonus.
The Alcatel One Touch Flash Plus packages some of the most interesting smartphone features together, especially with the camera quality being one of the best in the market. However, there are some small concerns with this model that are covered well by other phones that came in after the release of this model. Meanwhile, here’s the good and the bad for this one:WHAT WE LIKED
