After receiving the certification from the Wi-fi Alliance, it is now confirmed that Asus is coming up with the successor of Zenfone 4 Max. However, the details available from the WFA are limited and we expect to get to know more from GFXBench or TENNA. The Zenfone 5 Max is expected to arrive in the market by April 2018 with Android Oreo 8.0 version.
The appearance of the phone is similar to that of an iPhone and the feature of the large battery which was available in Zenfone 4 is also expected to be encompassed in the successor. The device will feature bezel-less big-sized display to stand with the trend. It will be powered by the Snapdragon chipset and would be unveiled during Mobile World Congress event in the upcoming month. The phone will be released in different colors which are not yet confirmed. Asus is expecting to target higher medium range segment from Android market.
Asus upcoming Zenfone series is designed to give the maximum to the customers as the model defines. The Zenfone 5 Max will display a full HD large 6-inches screen. The size of the display is 18:9 of the screen to body ratio. It will be covered with Gorilla glass to protect from scratches. The phone is encompassed in metallic body with glass rear panel.
The dual primary cameras with LED flash are placed vertically on the rear side. On the front just above the display, the selfie camera and speaker are seen. In the leaked images, the fingerprint scanner seems to be rear mounted along with Asus branding.
The performance of Asus smartphones is always remarkable. The predecessor of Zenfone 5 Max performed great and we expect the same from the successor too. The upcoming device is expected to host run on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with Zen UI customization. According to the leaked sources, the Zenfone 5 will be powered by an Octa-core processor with Snapdragon 636 chipset. The processor is accompanied by the massive 6GB RAM.
The Zenfone 5 Max is expected to offer a huge memory of 32 GB with an option to expand up to 256 GB using microSD card. The phone will also feature dual SIM slots which are enabled with 4G connectivity and VoLTE. As for now, there are no further details available and we expect that Asus would reveal them shortly.
Though there is no much talk about the cameras of Zenfone 5 Max, the phone is rumored to host dual primary cameras of 13MP each along with LED flash. The camera is expected to carry various features like geo-tagging, HDR, touch focus, panorama, face detection, etc. It can click beautiful pictures due to its wide angle. The selfie camera on the front side is again superior, having dual shooters with LED flashlight. Though there is no confirmation on the camera specs, we assume it to be selfie centric, so definitely highly configured. It can also be used for video calling.
The rear and front shooters can be used to record videos at 30fps with an output quality of 1080pixel resolution.
The device would support playing of many audio and video files. It will also host inbuilt FM Radio and will be accompanied with 3.5mm audio jack.
Following the predecessor, Asus Zenfone 5 Max is also expected to host long battery backup of capacity 5000mAh. The battery is of Li-Po and non-removable. The battery of this capacity will easily last for more than a day of moderate usage.
Asus has received WFA certification for its upcoming Max 5 and now it is enabled to provide Wi-fi 802.11 b/g/nac at 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The device can provide 4G connectivity along with VoLTE, besides 2G and 3G, via its dual SIM slots. Other wireless connectivity options include GPS, Bluetooth 5.0v, Hotspot, Wifi Direct, etc. It will have wired connectivity via micro USB Type C.
Asus Zenfone 5 Max would host many sensors like a fingerprint scanner, gyroscope, proximity, accelerometer, and compass.
