As more and more people have begun getting access to electronic industry, the first thing they buy is the smartphone. Overall, the budget segment of smartphones offers the maximum potential for growth. Gionee is one of the smartphone manufacturers that have been slowly growing in the smartphone market. Recently, there has been a lot of rumours about its upcoming “Gionee F306” smartphone. So, let’s see how this smartphone shall work in real life.
According to the leaked images online, one can reasonably say that it has a premium looks. It appears that a silver band runs along the edges of the phone, which provides a decent appearance to the phone. From the leaked images we can observe that the volume rocker and the power button has been given on the right edge of the phone, while the 3.5mm audio jack on the top. Three soft-touch capacitive buttons are also provided, which might not be backlit. According to the rumoured specs, the phone shall feature with external dimensions as 145.3 x 70.5 x 8.5 mm, thus making the phone having a conventional form factor, which in turn makes the phone handy. It is also listed that the phone shall weigh around 148 grammes, thus again is not that heavy. It is believed that the phone shall be available in two colour variants i.e. Gold and Silver. The phone is expected to feature with a 5.0-inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that would provide a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The display is also supposed to be protected by a scratch resistant coating. The IPS display shall provide decent viewing angles, and the sunlight legibility shall be great too. For a budget segment smartphone, the design and display are decent and would easily serve their purpose.
According to the online reports, the phone shall feature a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor that would be backed by MediaTek MT6735 chipset. The processor would be able to provide a lag free experience and would be competent enough to play games and videos easily. The rumoured Mali T720 GPU will ensure that games are played easily. However, one might observe lags or stutter when heavy applications would be played on the phone. It is also believed that a 32GB of internal storage would be provided in the phone and the memory could be expanded up to 128GB using the microSD card slot provided in the phone. It is also believed that the phone would be backed by a 3GB of RAM, which we think is great for a budget segment smartphone. The phone is expected to run on Android OS, that too Android version 5.1 i.e. Lollipop. The phone shall allow dual SIM compatibility and would support 4G/LTE networks.
According to the online reports, the phone shall feature a 13-megapixel rear camera that would be backed by a LED flashlight and phase detection autofocus. The front shooter is expected to feature a 5-megapixel camera. The various shooting modes shall include Continuous Shooting and High Dynamic Range mode (HDR). The Camera Features shall include Gesture Shot, Voice Capture, Face Beauty, Smile detection, Face Detection, Self-timer, Touch focus, GIF Creator, Snapshot Mode.The camera of Gionee smartphones have always been decent, and we hope that the camera provided in this phone shall capture decent images. The 5.0 MP front shooter is expected to capture decent selfies and would be able to provide incredible video calling. The phone would feature with a loudspeaker and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Gionee phones tend to have decent battery life, and we can surely hope that the battery provided in this phone shall be on par with earlier phones. It is believed that the phone would feature with a 2400mAh Li-Ion battery. The battery promises a standby time up to 250 hours, talk time up to 9 hours and music playback time up to 20 hours. With the current battery specifications, we expect that the phone to work for a complete day with moderate to heavy usage. The connectivity options shall include 4G/LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11, b/g/n, Mobile Hotspot, Bluetooth version 4.1, A-GPS and microUSB 2.0.
