HTC is known for producing a high-quality smartphone that is provided with even better specifications. However, since last few years, the company has started producing budget smartphones that look nice and work well. Adding to the budget segment of the smartphone, HTC added its Desire 520 smartphone. So, let’s see what this smartphone has to offer to its users at current price range.
Talking about the external dimensions of the phone, it has physical dimensions as 5.50x2.71x0.36 inches, which makes it an optimum sized smartphone. The phone weighs 150 gm, which is not that heavy for a smartphone. Regarding the colour variants of the phone, it comes in one colour variant i.e. Slate Gray. Overall, the phone looks rather beautiful and looks decent with its signature HTC design. Talking about the display of this phone, the HTC Desire 520 features 4.5 inches capacitive touchscreen display that provides a screen resolution of 480x854 pixels that roughly translates to merely 128 pixels-per-inch pixel density. Due to the low pixel density, the images and text appear rather jagged. Hence the overall display looks a bit dull. Even though the phone looks stylish but the dull screen fails to capture the user’s attention.
The phone is powered by a Quad-core 1.1 GHz Cortex-A7 processor which has a Qualcomm MSM8909 Snapdragon 210 chipset. The quad-core processor appears to work decently but somehow fails to deliver a power packed performance. The smartphone offers 8GB of internal memory, which could be expanded up to 256GB using the microSD card slot provided in the phone. The phone runs on Android OS, version 5.0.1 (Lollipop). 1GB of RAM make the interface user-friendly. However, it is way less than what other smartphone offers at the same price tag. The phone offers single-SIM functionality and supports 4G/LTE networks.
The phone comprises 8MP primary camera that is supported by a LED flashlight, and the front shooter is provided with a 2MP camera. The images captured by the phone are somewhat decent but lack depth and colour. The low light photography suffers the most, as a lot of noise seems to creep in images captured in low light. Talking about multimedia, the phone features a stereo loudspeaker, 3.5mm audio jack. The phone also features MP4/XviD /H.265 player, MP3/WAV/eAAC+/Flac player, Photo/video editor and a Document viewer.
The battery provided in the smartphone works averagely. Having topped with a 2000 mAh Li-Ion removable battery, this phone can work for an entire day with only light usage. The phone does not support fast charging. The smartphone comprises connectivity functions, such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth version 4.1 with A2DP, A-GPS, FM Radio and microUSB version 2.0.
