Though the deal to work with Google has already been signed by HTC, they are still working on a new phone that is the HTC U12. The HTC U12 will be the flagship smartphone for HTC. This deal with Google does, of course, mean that HTC’s professional experts will move to Google who will also gain access to HTC intellectual property, but then HTC will still have hold on its engineering progress and therefore still be able to independently manufacture new phones which is also because the deal agrees to the strategy of smartphone production which the company follows. Therefore the HTC U12 is actually an upgraded variant of the U11 which was announced at the end of last year along with the HTC U11 Plus. Though there have not been any specific announcements, rumours say that the HTC U12 is probably going to be announced this year, in May.
The HTC U12 is expected to have a sleek body without bezels, although there might be very small bezels present at top and bottom of the smartphone, mostly to help the screen to fit in better. It will be 7.9 mm wide with the corners curved to give a smoother finish and will have a weight of 169 grams which should make it quite comfortable to hold and not too heavy also. It has been speculated that the position of the volume and power keys will probably remain in the same place as the U11 no matter how much the body design is changed. The 4K display will probably be of 5.7 inches and the resolution of the super LCD screen will be of 3840 x 2160 pixels at a pixel density of 534 pixels per inch. The screen will also be protected by 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 as well as a scratch resistant display.
The HTC U12 is most likely to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and will probably run on Android 8 OS and it has an octa-core processor. The storage capacity of the HTC U12 is 4 GB of RAM and internal storage of 128 GB. The smartphone will also come with a micro SD card which will allow the internal storage to be expanded up to 2 TB and the HTC U12 also packs an Adreno 545 graphics processor. The CPU speed of the HTC U12 is 2.4 GHz. All these features promise efficient working on the device’s part especially when multiple windows are opened and different applications are running together.
As far as rumours go the main dual back cameras of the HTC U12 will probably have a resolution of 12 + 12 megapixels and the maximum resolution of videos in pixels would most likely be 2160p @ 30fps. There will obviously be a front camera and it will again probably have the resolution of 16 megapixels. Other features like geo-tagging, digital zoom, the option for touch to focus, autofocus, face detection facility, high dynamic range or what is commonly known as HDR, panorama mode as well as phase detection is most likely to be available on the HTC U12 camera. The HTC U12 smartphone will also have several other multimedia features like light sensor, proximity sensor, multi-touch facilities, fingerprint sensor, orientation options, gyroscope, inbuilt stereo speakers, audio jack, accelerometer along with the touch screen display keypad.
The battery of the all new HTC U12 is of 3000 mAh. The power battery is also of the Li-Ion type. The HTC U12 will feature dual SIM facility and support 3G as well as 4G networks. The HTC U12 smartphone will only support Nano SIM cards for both SIM 1 and SIM 2. The wi-fi capability will also be available on the much-awaited smartphone and it will come with the availability of Wi-Fi hotspot as well. Several features like Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC are also predicted to be available because they are very basic features of any smartphone to have.
