Huawei has been in the smartphone business for quite some time now. They started manufacturing phones from the year 1997 and since then have grown tremendously. Huawei has been able to penetrate its Honor series of the smartphone in the market successfully. The Huawei Honor 4A was launched in July 2015 and featured as a budget segment smartphone. The phone offers all the essential amenities desired by a smartphone enthusiast and delivers what it promises.


Talking about the external dimensions of the phone, it has physical dimensions as 5.65x2.84x0.33 inches, which makes it have a rather optimum sized smartphone. The phone weighs only 125 gm, thus making it a super light smartphone. With its shiny exteriors and curved panels, this phone portrays a traditional look. Overall, the phone has an eye catchy decent appeal for users. The phone is available in three colour variants i.e. White, Black and Gold. About the display of this phone, the Huawei Honor 4A features a 5.0 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that provides a screen resolution of 720x1280 pixels that roughly translates to 294 pixels-per-inch pixel density. The display is sharp enough to provide an enjoyable viewing experience. The colour reproduction and sunlight legibility of display appear to be good too.


The phone is powered by a Quad-core 1.1 GHz Cortex-A7 processor which has a Qualcomm MSM8909 Snapdragon 210 chipset. The quad-core processor works seem to be efficient enough to play games and videos easily. The smartphone offers 8GB of internal memory, which could be expanded up to 256GB using the microSD card slot provided in the phone. The phone runs on Android OS, version 5.1.1 i.e. Lollipop with the help of Huawei Emotion 3.1 UI. The smartphone has a 2GB RAM to make the interface user-friendly. The phone offers dual SIM functionality and supports 4G/LTE networks.


The phone features an 8MP autofocus primary camera that is supported by a LED flashlight and features Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR. The front shooter is of 2MP. The images captured by the phone in broad daylight are somewhat decent but though lack some depth. While, things do seem to go south when images are snapped in dim lighting conditions, as a lot of noise do appear to creep in the photographs. The video recording is done by the camera at frames like 720p@30fps. Talking about multimedia, the phone features a dual loudspeaker which produces decent sound. A 3.5mm audio jack is also provided in the smartphone that features active noise cancellation with dedicated mic. The phone also features MP4/XviD /H.265 player, MP3/WAV/eAAC+/Flac player, Photo/video editor and a Document viewer.


The battery provided in the smartphone works averagely. Having topped with a 2200 mAh Li-Po removable battery, this phone can work for an entire day with semi-light usage. The battery promises a standby time up to 300 hours and talk-time up to 11 hours. The phone does not support fast charging. The smartphone comprises connectivity functions, such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi direct, hotspot, Bluetooth version 4.1 with LE, A-GPS, GLONASS, FM Radio and microUSB version 2.0. Talking about sensors, the smartphone comes with accelerometer, proximity, compass sensors.
