Huawei Honor 9 Lite

The Chinese manufacturer Huawei is all set to release their new addition to their family, namely the Honor 9 Lite. It’s a toned down version of the Honor 9 and has more or less the same features. The device is set to make its debut on the 21st of December, although some say that it may be pushed into January of the next year. The news went live when the company posted a bulletin, inviting people to attend to the Honor 9 Lite’s unveiling on the 21st of December. They have mentioned few specs regarding the device such as a bezel-less display and up to 4 camera sensors. It seems all flashy and impressive on paper, but unless the device is unveiled, it will be hard to give a proper verdict. Also, the event is being held in Shenzhen at the Futian Sports Park.

The Honor 9 Lite is said to sport a 5.65-inch display with FHD technology. The resolution and the pixel density hasn’t been mentioned and will be unveiled in the event. We have seen may Honor devices in the past, and though their displays were good, they were far from perfect. The screen seemed to lack the punch you seek in a premium screen. However, in terms of design, the Honor 9 Lite seems to have pulled it off quite nicely. With a full black color scheme and such little amount of bezels, the looks of the device can’t get better than this. The released images also show that there is a fingerprint sensor at the back instead of the front. The round-edged design is an eye grabber and the fact that the loudspeaker is at the bottom instead of the rear will be appealing to a lot of users.

The Honor 9 Lite is supposed to be powered by the Kirin 960 octa-core processor, clock speed unknown. The device is said to be available in two variant, one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage and the other with 4GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The specs appear to be fine and we are expecting the clock speed to be somewhere around the 2.0GHz mark. The Honor 9 Lite will also have Android Nougat 7.0 out of the box. No promises have been made regarding the upgrade to the next version though. The Honor 9 had an AnTuTu score of 148K and if the 9 Lite manages to achieve somewhere around that mark, it’s going to be a hit. There is price segment that has to be considered as well, but we can ignore that for now. Huawei isn’t the best name in the block, but recently it has started to pick up some speed. The mass production of so many various devices only goes to show that they are putting effort. The Honor (was a decent device and a much cheaper (targeting the mid-level segment) yet specification rich version of an existing top-tier smartphone is always welcome.

The Honor 9 Lite is supposed to come equipped with 4 camera sensor. For the rear camera, it will have a 13MP and a 2 MP sensor and the front setup will have 8 MP and a 2 MP sensors. Full HD video recording is said to be available for the setups, the only difference being that the rear setup will have 1080p@60fps while the front will have 30fps support. Mind you that this is all in pen and paper, and the specs may change during the time of the actual unveiling. Huawei hasn’t revealed much and these are just speculations.

In terms of multimedia, the Honor 9 Lite will have support for MP3, MPA, WAV, eAAC+, MP4, FLV and H.264 formats. Additional formats can be availed by installing a third party application such as VLC or the MX player.

The much-rumored Honor 9 Lite is said to come with a 3000mAH battery, which is the standard mark for any smartphone nowadays, and with the proper optimization, it will easily last a day.

In terms of connectivity, the device will have dual sim support and will also have provisions for 4G VOLTE services.
