Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd has announced the release of the successor of the Huawei Mate 10 and with a lot of new and advanced features that will attract the interests of lots of customers. This new device is a high-priced modelm set in the premium segment with some high-end features. Get ready to spend soe heavy money to purchase the phone. This device will be available in two different variants 64GB and 128GB internal memory.
The Huawei Mate 10 Pro has a 6.0 inches screen with AMOLED display. The phone measures 154.2 x 74.5 x 7.9 mm and weighs 178 grams, which is quite heavy for a phone. But given the size, it cannot be helped much. The has a glass & aluminum frame which is sturdy as well as flamboyant. The phone would have a finished metal look with a rear camera module on the back panel. The back panel will also house the fingerprint sensor. The phone is IP67 water and dirt resistant, and has Corning Gorilla Glass protection.
The phone's 6-inch display has a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The AMOLED display has the same color gamut of 16M colours and supports 10-point multitouch capability. The bezels are very thin, with a screen to body ratio of almost 81%. The display has a pixel desnsity of about 402 ppi, which is a little less for a 6-inch phone. This may cause sunlight legibility issues. Hopefully the AMOLED technology covers for that shortcoming.
The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset which houses an octa-core processor clocked at 2.4 GHz maximum. Huawei doesn't depend upon Qualcomm and that becomes a good thing as the chipset is a very good performer. The Mali G-72 MP12 GPU will work good for producing great graphics for a nice gaming experience. As far the memory is concerned, the phone will come in two variants - one with 4GB RAM/64GB internal and another with 6GB RAM/128GB internal. With a lot of memory space, there is no need to worry about running out of storage space. But should you happen to run out, there will be no expansion option; you'll have to make do with what you get.
The software part is where the Mate 10 Pro shines bright. It is one of the few phones that's available with Android v8.0 Oreo just a few days after the OS has started rolling out. The Android OS will be mounted on by the EMUI 8.0, the custom UI from Huawei. The EMUI is looked upon as a very user friendly interface by experts existing users alike. So Huawei bags a big time score here. Most of the native features should be there in place.
The camera specifications for the Huawei Mate 10 Pro include two different primary camera lenses 20MP and 12MP respectively while the front camera includes 8MP camera lens. The primary camera lens comprises of a focal aperture of f/1.6, OIS, 2x lossless zoom, Leica optics, laser autofocus and phase detection. The other features included are geo-tagging, touch focus, smile detection panorama and HDR. The dual-tone LED flash accompanying the rear camera will help in taking sharper and brighter pictures even in lowlight conditions.
The video quality feature for the front and back camera lenses are very good. The videos are recorded in 2160p@30fps and 1080p@30fps/60fps. The video picture quality for the front camera which will be used for video conferencing will show crystal clear picture with no haziness.
The multimedia features for this device include a 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo speakers and a support for different alert types like WAV, musical ringtones of MP3 format and Vibration. The device supports MP3 files for audio player and MP4 and MPEG4 types of files for video player. FM Radio is not available in this device.
The Huawei Mate 10 Pro has a non-removable Li-Po battery with huge power of about 4000 mAh. Customers can use this device for long hours before it is fully depleted of charging. The device also has an option for quick charging. Given the size of the display, this much is expected of the phone. The device will support 2G/ 3G/ 4G networks based GSM nano-SIM cards. It also supports 4G Volte for better and rich calling experience. EDGE and GPRS is also available in this device. The other features of this device are Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/nac, mobile hotspot, dual-band, Bluetooth v4.2, A-GPS with GLONASS, accelerometer, gyroscope and proximity sensor. It has NFC payment option and infrared port. It supports HTML5 for browser but it does not support JAVA.
