The company seems to working in the right direction, as majority of its smartphones are finding instant success in the markets. The Chinese tech giant has been gaining momentum in smartphone market all around the world. Recently, they launched their “P8 Lite (2017)” smartphone to attract mid-segment smartphone users. The move from Huawei appears a bit haphazard though, as the P10 lite is set to be launched in a few weeks time.
The Huawei P8 Lite (2017) is a premium looking smartphone that appeals to a broad range of audience. The stylish exteriors provided in the device topped with excellent craftsmanship ensure that the phone has a quite high aesthetic appeal. The volume rocker and the power button have been provided on the right edge of the phone, while the speaker has been provided on the bottom part of the phone. The phone doesn’t have a physical home button or any soft touch buttons and the fingerprint scanner has been provided on the back panel of the phone. The external dimension of the phone are 147.2 x 72.9 x 7.6 mm (5.80 x 2.87 x 0.30 in) and it weighs around 147 grams. The phone is available in three color variants i.e. White, Black and Gold. The P8 Lite comes with a 5.2-inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that provides a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The display proves to be one of the best parts of the phone and provides an amazing viewing experience. The screen provides fantastic viewing angles as well an impressive sunlight legibility. Overall, the phone has an amazing design and an eye-catching display.
The phone is powered by an Octa-core (4x2.1 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x1.7 GHz Cortex-A53) processor mounted on a HiSilicon Kirin 655 chipset. The processor provided in the phone is provides an amazing performance. One can easily do heavy multitasking on the phone without compromising much on the overall performance of the phone. The Mali-T830MP2 GPU provided in the phone makes sure that games and videos are played easily on the phone. The 3GB of RAM provided in the phone proves to be sufficient for it to function seamlessly. The phone comes with 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB with a hybrid SIM card slot. The phone runs on Android 7.0 i.e. Nougat with the help of Huawei’s Emotion 5.0 UI. The Huawei P8 Lite (2017) is a dual sim phone that supports 4G/LTE networks.
The phone features a 12MP AF primary camera with an LED flashlight. The front camera on the other hand, features an 8 MP Selfie camera. The primary camera comes with all basic features like Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and HDR. The overall picture quality of the camera, was found to be good and the images captured by the camera are decent. The images captured by the primary camera are decent, as they capture a fair amount of detail. The images captured in dim light conditions are as impressive as images captured in broad daylight, as noise seems to creep in the photographs. The 8MP front camera can take decent selfies and one can easily share the images online without applying any kinds of filters. HD videos can be recorded on the phone at frames like 1080p@30fps. The loudspeaker provided in the phone gets sufficiently loud and a 3.5mm audio jack is also provided in the phone.
The Huawei P8 Lite (2017) comes with a non-removable 3000 mAh Li-Ion battery. The battery can easily run for a day with moderate to heavy usage. The battery doesn’t support quick charging but supports multiple battery saving profiles. The phone has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth version 4.1, A2DP, EDR, LE, A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, FM radio and USB microUSB version 2.0 for communications hardware. The phone comes with sensors like Fingerprint (rear-mounted), accelerometer, proximity and compass. The phone supports XviD, MP4, H.264, WMV player and in audio supports MP3, eAAC+, WMA, WAV and Flac player.
