Huawei is a brand name that has become quite popular in the recent years. It has two series of phones namely, Ascend and Honor under its name. One of the popular smartphones in this series is the Huawei Ascend P8 Lite. This smartphone targets the middle-class customers. The major specification of this smartphone is its exceptional battery life. Now let's have a look in detail at its various technical specifications and its pros and cons.
As already mentioned the phone features as the lighter version of Huawei P8 and so shares a lot of design cues from its alpha version. The phone has a rectangular shape with a unibody plastic frame. The camera with LED flashlight is provided at the top left of the back panel, while the power button, dual SIM card slots and the volume buttons provided on the right edge of the phone. The MicroUSB port, microphone, and speaker grille provide at the bottom of the phone and the 3.5mm audio jack, and additional microphone has given at the top of the phone.
The phone weighs 131 grams making it light-weight, which again is possible due to the use of plastic in the frame. The Non-removable 2200 mAh battery provided in the phone offers a talk time up to 11 hours on 3G networks and standby time of 380 hours on 3G networks.
The Huawei P8 Lite features a 5.0 inches LCD capacitive touchscreen that provides a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The phone offers 294 pixels per inch, while the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The images and texts produced by the screen crisp. The viewing angles are okay, and the colors seem to pop out of the screen, even though the display is not that sharp.
This device works on Android OS v 5.0.2 (Lollipop). The chipset used in HUAWEI ASCEND P8 LITE is HiSilicon Kirin 620. The CPU used is Octa–core Cortex–A53. The speed of the processor is 1.2 GHz. The Mali–450 MP4 takes care of the graphics interface. This smartphone comes with a 2GB of RAM and an internal storage capacity of 16GB. This smartphone comes with the option of expanding the memory externally up to 256GB with the help of micro-SD card. he Huawei P8 Lite offers decent performance, but you can’t expect it to work as smoothly as flagship smartphones. One thing we did observe was that the phone took time when switching between various apps. The Emotion UI running on the phone has nice upgrades compared to its previous version.
It has a decent 13MP back camera having an aperture of f/ 2.0 and 28mm wide angle focal range. The additional features available are the autofocus, LED flash, digital zoom, optical image stabilization, and natural flash. The front camera has only 5MP clarity. It comes with basic speakers and the standard 3.5 mm audio jack. It comes with a fully functional FM Radio feature. The video in this smartphone can be recorded using the main camera. This smartphone has a decent main camera to record videos of 1080p resolution at 30fps. Talking about the rear camera, the phone struggles to take decent snaps if the lighting conditions are not that bright. However, the images caught in bright light conditions are great. The front camera works like the rear camera and the quality of the pictures on the lighting conditions. Talking about the camera features, Huawei is heavily touting two features about this phone: All focus and Ultra Snapshot. All focus lets the users take multiple pics in just a single press, while the Ultra Snapshot lets the user take snaps through the rear camera by double tapping the lower part of the volume button even when the phone is locked. The audio quality of the smartphone, when tested with our headphone, was decent. The loudspeakers seem to work fine, but at full volume, the sound quality gets a bit tinny.
The Huawei Ascend P8 Lite comes with non-removable Li–Po battery of 2200 mAh capacity. It has a standby time of 380 h for 3G mode. It comes with a talk time of 11 h for 3G mode. This smart device has dual sim. One sim is of the micro-sim type, while the other is of the nano-sim type. Both the sims are compatible with GSM connectivity. It supports 3G, 4G and 4G LTE connectivity. It also comes with the basic wireless connectivity features like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth v4.0.
The phone offers an incredible value for money. The phone feels premium when held in the hand and offers 4G support. If we talk about the negative aspects of the phone, then the first thing to note is the phone’s uninspiring display. The second point to note is the average camera performance, as the camera doesn’t live up to the hype that maintained for the camera. Lastly, the processor works averagely to provide sluggish performance sometimes.WHAT WE LIKED
This smartphone is reasonably priced and hence is considered a budget smartphone. For people who do not mind much about camera and processor, this is a suitable choice.
