Innjoo was a little-known internet based smartphone Startup Company a few years ago, however, now with the release of their various budget smartphones, the company has become a household name. The company is known in the UAE for making phones with superior design, amazing display and good performance. Their phones characterized by incredible hardware all enclosed in an amazing body. And now with the release of their budget smartphone, the Innjoo Note Pro, in 2015, the company hopes to make a dent in the heavily competitive budget smartphone range by competition against manufacturers like Moto, Lenovo, and Asus among others. Will the Note Pro be able to overthrow these industry standards? In this review, we’ll see how the phone stacks up against the other well-established companies.
The Innjoo Note Pro came out in 2014, and the Note Pro is an upgrade with a larger RAM and a better selfie shooter. The phone has an all plastic body with quite a lot of bezel on the top and bottom. There are three backlit touch keys at the bottom. The volume rocker and the power button are located on the right side whereas the audio jack is present on the top and the micro-USB port on the bottom. The selfie camera is present right beside the earpiece, and the rear has the primary camera and an LED flash. The speakers are present on the back in the bottom. The phone has a 5.5 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1280x720p which translates to a pixel density of 294ppi. It is way less as compared to other phones in the same price range. However, the screen gives a very sharp image and also has smart gesture, and you will hardly notice the difference in the variance in the screen resolution. The screen has good brightness too. The phone is a bit on the heavy side as it weighs about 190 gram, but the sleek design will feel very comfortable in your hands. The phone is lightweight enough to be used with one hand which is always an advantage.
The phone has a 1.3 GHz MediaTek quad-core processor. Again this is less compared to what other phones in the same price range might have, but the phone makes up for it with a bigger RAM. The 2 GB RAM will be more than enough to give you the ability to multitask, browse the web and binge on YouTube videos, while doing some intensive tasks like playing games and watching graphics intense videos. Innjoo has decided to go with a smaller processor while giving us a bigger RAM and it does not disappoint. The phone runs on Android KitKat 4.4 with Innjoo’s skin called InnUI. Although it isn’t much different from stock Android, some of the things have been changed like the traditional app drawer. All in all, the UI offers decent customizing options and isn’t buggy or unstable like many other builds. You can expect to get good performance from this phone.
The Note Pro comes with an upgraded camera as compared with the Note. The 13 MP primary camera is very standard in the budget phone range. It takes good images with sharp colors, good contrast, and dark blacks. The camera also comes with a flash, although its low light images are not as good. The camera app is very simple and has a few customizing options. The intelligent beauty mode will give you better photos. It also has continuous capture and HDR. The 8 MP Selfie shooter is certainly an upgrade from the 5 MP cameras usually found on phones in the same range. The camera takes good images. Video recording is also decent. The phone also has all the standard multimedia options like video player, image gallery, FM radio among others. You can also download apps from the app store.
The phone has a 3000 mAh battery, and it will run for the whole day and more. It seems that both the software and the hardware on the phone aren’t that power hungry, and the phone will give a day’s or two worth of charge at a single time. You can also customize the phone to make your battery last longer. While fast charging is not available with this phone, it does give you a larger battery than what other phones offer you. The phone also has all the standard connectivity options. And audio jack and a micro USB port are present on the phone. It has Bluetooth, WI-Fi, 3G, hotspot, and GPS. NFC is not present. The phone take two micro SIM cards and also has a microSD slot.
While Innjoo still has a long way to go to create a stronghold in the market, it seems to be off to a good start with the Note Pro. The phone has an amazing display and sound hardware. The camera present on the phone is also excellent. However, few things can still improve; this includes the huge bezel on the top and bottom of the screen and the speakers which could have been better were they mad front firing. Nevertheless, here we look at some the things about the phone that we liked and some things that can be improvedWHAT WE LIKED
