Intex has been in smartphone business for quite some time now. They specialize in making entry and budget segment smartphones. Recently, they launched their “Aqua Strong 5.1+” smartphone. The smartphone is the successor of Intex Aqua Strong 5.1 smartphone. The Aqua Strong 5.1+ is an entry level smartphone, meaning too many expectations are not be made.
The phone has a decent look and shares the exact same design cues as its predecessor, Aqua Strong 5.1. The volume and power buttons are provided on the right side, the 3.5 mm audio jack and USB Port are provided at the top while the speaker grille has been provided at the back panel of the phone. Regarding the color variants of the phone, it is available in three color variants i.e. Blue, White and Champagne. The external dimensions of the device are 143.1x 72.1x 10.1 mm, and it weighs around 150.6 grams. The phone features a 5.0-inches GWCGA Capacitive touchscreen that provides a screen resolution of 480x854 pixels which roughly corresponds to 197 ppi rich screen. The display proves to be decent enough to let its user have a pleasurable viewing experience. The display has decent viewing angles and has good sunlight legibility too, but has a lot of room for improvements.
The phone features a 1.3GHz quad-core processor backed by a MediaTek chipset. The processor seems to be competent enough, as basic functions were done by the device without any problem. The processor is powerful enough to let the user play light games and videos easily. Though the phone works great for normal day to day functions, one cannot expect the phone to play heavy games and heavily encoded videos, as then massive frame drops and stutter can be observed. The phone runs on Android ecosystem, i.e. Android version 6.0 (Marshmallow). The internal storage of the phone is kept as 8GB which could be further expanded up to 64GB by its users. The processor is backed by a 1GB RAM, which though feels less, is enough to help in performing smooth functioning of the phone. The best part about the phone is that it is supports 4G VoLTE networks and offers dual SIM functionality too.
Let’s see as to what kind of cameras have been provided in the phone. The main camera features a 5MP camera that is backed by an LED flashlight. Also, a 2MP front camera has been provided in the phone, which again is decent for a budget segment phone. The primary camera has features like Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face detection, Smile detection, face beauty, panorama mode and voice capture. The phone has various shooting modes such as Continuous Shooting, High Dynamic Range mode (HDR). The camera setting also include Exposure compensation and ISO control. HD Video recording is also done by the camera. The images captured by the camera in bright light conditions, turn out to be okay and have decent amount of details. On the other hand, the images captured in dim light conditions turn out to be somewhat workable as a lot of noise seems to creep in the photographs. The front shooter was able to capture some decent selfies but overall the images were not that amazing. For a budget segment smartphone, the camera turns out to be okay. The phone features a loudspeaker which gets loud enough and also features a 3.5 mm audio jack.
A removable 2000mAh battery has been provided in the phone. The battery promises to provide up to 5 hours of talk time, and up to 250 hours of standby time. The battery is non-replaceable and turns out to be great. The battery can work for an entire day with mixed usage. Talking about the connectivity options, the tablet features connectivity options, such as, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth, A-GPS and microUSB 2.0. The phone comes with only one sensor i.e. accelerometer. In the box of Intex Aqua Strong 5.1 + one can find a handset, protection cover, screen guard, battery, Data Cable, Adapter, Manual and Handsfree/Earphone.
