Talking about entry level smartphones, Lava smartphone Nepal launched its “Lava Iris 810” smartphone in the market. The smartphone is aimed to attract entry-level smartphone enthusiast or people who want to shift to Android smartphones from the basic models that too at very low price. Lava Iris 810 has been kept basic to the grassroots level and offers a decent Android experience. So continue reading the review if you want to know how this smartphone works in the real world.
The rectangular look of the smartphone along with its slightly curved edges makes the phone have a decent appeal to its users. The design has been kept basic, and somehow the phone captures the user’s attention. The phone is available in two colour variants i.e. Black and White. The display of the phone features a 5.0 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that provides a screen resolution of 480 x 854 pixels that roughly translates to approximately 200 pixels-per-inch pixel density. Lava Iris 810 provided with one of the most basic display; the screen does not disappoint. For an entry level smartphone, the display works decently but then again one should not expect it to be extraordinary. At the current price tag, the display works fine enough. The viewing angles suffer a little, but it’s nothing to be worried much about. The sunlight legibility is decent, but the screen’s brightness levels could have been better.
The phone features a 1.3 GHz Quad-core processor which is backed by an unspecified chipset and Mali MP2 GPU. The quad-core processor makes sure that the basic functions are done in the phone snappily. However, the performance may feel a little sluggish at times. The Mali MP2 GPU enables the users to play light games without any problems, but one can’t expect to play graphic intensive games in this smartphone. An internal storage of 8GB is provided in the smartphone, which could be expanded up to 32 GB using the microSD card slot provided in the phone. The phone runs on Android OS, version 5.1 i.e. Lollipop with the help of Lava Star UI. A 1GB of RAM is provided in this smartphone, which is now a standard in entry level smartphones. The phone offers dual SIM functionality but doesn’t support 4G/LTE networks.
The phone features a 5MP rear autofocus camera that is supported by a LED flashlight. The front shooter is provided with a 2MP camera. The images captured by the phone in broad daylight are decent but look grainy and lack a certain amount of details. While the images snapped in dim lighting conditions are no good too, as a lot of noise do seem to creep in the photographs, and they look faded. The video recording is done by the camera at frames like 720p@30fps. Talking about multimedia, the phone features a loudspeaker which produces decent sound. A 3.5mm audio jack is also provided in the smartphone. The phone also features MP4/XviD /H.265 player, MP3/WAV/eAAC+/Flac player, Photo/video editor and a Document viewer.
The battery provided in the smartphone works surprisingly well. Having topped with a 2000 mAh Li-Ion removable battery, this phone can work for an entire day with moderate to heavy usage. The smartphone does back the basic functions, such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth version 4.1, FM Radio and microUSB version 2.0.
