Lava has been one of the key players in the budget segment of smartphones. They have been able to make some pretty decent budget segment of smartphones. Some time back they launched another smartphone with the name Lava X41 Plus. The smartphone was launched to attract budget segment smartphone users. So, let’s see how this smartphone turns out to be in real life and if it offers something special to its users.
If we talk about the design of the phone, the phone boasts a rectangular body with sharp edges that are slightly humbled near the corners. Three soft-touch capacitive buttons are provided on the bottom part of the front panel, which again is not backlit. The speaker grille has been given on the rear panel of the phone while the power and volume buttons have been provided on the right edge of the phone. The external dimensions of the phone 145 x 71.2 x 8.8 mm (5.71 x 2.80 x 0.35 in), which makes the phone rather handy. The phone is available in two color variant i.e. Black and Gold. Talking about the display of the phone, the phone features a 5.0 inches IPS LCD that provides a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and corresponds to a pixel density of roughly 294ppi. The 2.5D curved display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 2. The display proves to be decent enough, and the screen looks lively enough for a budget segment smartphone. The sunlight legibility and the viewing angles turn out to be great too. Overall, the design and display seem to be great.
This phone features a 1.3 GHz Quad-core processor, which seems to be the standard in Lava smartphones. The processor appears to be capable of providing a seamless experience. One may not be able to play heavy apps or games on this phone, as the phone shall lag way too much. The phone works on Android version 6.0 i.e. Marshmallow, which is decent for an entry-level smartphone. A 2 GB DDR3 RAM is provided in the phone, which we think is decent enough for a budget segment of smartphone. The internal memory provided in the phone is 32GB and could be expanded up to 32GB using the microSD card slot provided in the phone. The phone offers dual SIM support, i.e. Dual SIM (4G + 4G) [Only 1 SIM at a time can be 4G].
The phone features an 8 MP primary camera with big pixel sensor (1.4 µm) that is supported by a LED flashlight and auto focus. A 5.0MP front camera has been provided in the front. The front camera is also backed by a LED flashlight. The camera features include Face Beauty, Video Modes: Time-Lapse Video and Slow Motion Video. The images captured by the camera are decent, however, many a time the images captured by the phone lack certain amount of details. The front shooter with selfie flash can take decent selfies. The phone features a loudspeaker which gets loud enough and a 3.5 mm audio jack has also been provided in the phone. Talking about multimedia, the phone has FM Radio with recording options, and Video player has also been provided in the phone that can play video formats like 3GP and MP4. The music player can play MP3, AMR, MiDi, WAVE songs, and ringtones include polyphonic.
Talking about the battery provided in the phone, the phone comes with a 2500 mAh Li-Po battery and is user replaceable. The battery promises Audio Playback at full Loudness in earphone mode at 54 hours 41 minutes and Audio Playback at full Loudness in Speaker mode at 20 hours. When the battery was tested in real time, we found that the battery lasted for a complete day with moderate usage. The connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11, b/g/n, Bluetooth version 4.0 and microUSB 2.0. The phone comes with three kinds of sensors i.e. Ambient Light Sensor, Accelerometer and Proximity.
