Few companies have mastered the art of producing budget friendly smartphones, and Lenovo seems to be one of the all-star company in this domain. Not only Lenovo has managed to produce some decent budget friendly smartphones, but they have also been able to attract a loyal customer base too. Lenovo launched its ‘A1900’ entry level smartphone in April 2015. The smartphone aimed to attract users searching for the basic entry level smartphone enthusiasts. So let’s see how this smartphone works in real world.
Talking about the external dimensions of the phone, it has physical dimensions as 4.76x2.44x0.37 inches, which makes it a pocket-friendly smartphone. The phone weighs only 117g, thus making it a very lightweight smartphone. Regarding the colour variants of the phone, it comes in only one colour variant i.e. Black. The phone has a basic appeal to the design of the phone is kept traditional and uninspiring. A 60.7% screen-to-body ratio has been provided for this smartphone, which again is not that impressive. Talking about the display of this phone, the Lenovo A1900 features 4.0 inches IPS LCD that provide a screen resolution of 480x800 pixels that roughly translates to 233 pixels-per-inch pixel density. The display supports multi-touch up to two fingers only. Even though the display has low pixel density, it doesn’t look bad. Also, the sunlight legibility and viewing angles are decent too.
The phone is powered by a Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 processor which is backed by a Spreadtrum SC7730 chipset. The quad-core processor ensures that the basic functions run smoothly but then again sluggishness could be observed while switching through various apps in the phone. The Mali-400 GPU provided in the phone is capable of playing light games without any problem. The smartphone offers 4GB of internal memory, which could be expanded up to 16GB using the microSD card slot provided in the phone. The phone runs on Android OS, version 4.4.2 i.e. KitKat. Only 512MB of RAM available in the smartphone, which is very less than what other smartphone offers at the same price tag. The phone offers dual-SIM functionality but does not supports 4G/LTE network connectivity.
The phone features a 2-MP primary camera that is not supported by a LED flashlight, and the front shooter remains absent in this smartphone. The images captured by the phone are not that great, as a lot of noise appears to creep in images captured in general. However, one can’t expect the camera to work any better at this price range. About multimedia, the phone features a stereo loudspeaker, 3.5mm audio jack. The phone also features MP4/XviD /H.265 player, MP3/WAV/eAAC+/Flac player, Photo/video editor and a Document viewer. There are two sensors provided in the smartphones i.e. accelerometer and proximity.
The battery provided in the smartphone works averagely. Having topped with a 1500 mAh Li-Ion removable battery, this phone can work for an entire day with light to moderate usage. The phone does not support fast charging. The smartphone comprises connectivity functions, such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, A-GPS, FM Radio and microUSB version 2.0.
