Many competitors have also started producing amazing smartphones specially curated for the budget segment of smartphones. Lenovo Golden Warrior Note 8 Design and Display
Lenovo Golden Warrior Note 8 Design

The Lenovo Golden Warrior Note 8 is a decent looking smartphone. The phone has smooth front and back panels and has a silver rim running along the edges of the phone. We saw that the silver rim protects the display of the screen if the phone accidently falls on the floor. The volume rocker and power buttons are provided on the right edge of the phone, and the 3.5mm jack has been provided on the top side of the phone. Three soft-touch capacitive buttons are also provided on the phone which is not backlit. The external dimensions of the phone are 6.67 x 3.29 x 0.34 inches and the phone weighs 170 grammes, which might be too heavy for many users. With the huge form factor, it's not possible to use the phone with one hand only. The phone is available in one colour variant, i.e. White. If we talk about the display of the phone, the phone features a 6.0-inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that provides a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and corresponds to a pixel density of roughly 254-ppi. The display turns out to be impressive and is able to capture the user’s attention. The colour reproduction of the screen seems to be alright, and the screen gets bright enough to provide a decent sunlight legibility. The viewing angles of the phone are decent too.

This phone comes with an Octa-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 processor which is backed by a Mediatek MT6752 chipset. We found that the processor was capable of providing a decent Android experience and was competent enough to play all kinds of games and videos that too side by side. The Mali-T760 GPU provided in the phone works surprisingly well and was able to play games and videos easily. The phone works on Android Android OS, Android OS, version 4.4.2 i.e. KitKat. A 1GB of RAM is provided in the phone, which we think is less, as smartphones in its same price segment offer much batter RAM memory. The internal memory provided in the phone is 8GB, which could be expanded up to 32GB using the microSD card slot provided in the phone. The phone offers dual SIM support and also support 4G networks.

The phone features with a 13MP primary camera that is supported by a LED flash and autofocus. A 5.0MP camera front shooter has been provided in the front. The images captured by the camera turn out to be decent and are shareworthy. Though the photos snapped by the camera are decent, they do lack a certain amount of details and may occasionally look a little washed out. The front shooter turns out to be decent too, as the selfies captured by look decent enough. The camera works decent compared to the price one pays to get to have this phone. The loudspeaker provided in the phone gets loud enough without any distortion. A 3.5 mm audio jack has also been provided in the phone.

Talking about one of the important parts of the phone, the battery. The phone comes with a 3300mAh Li-Ion battery and is user replaceable. When the battery was tested in real time, we found that the battery was able to work for a complete day with moderate to heavy usage. The connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band, hotspot, Bluetooth version 4.0, A-GPS, FM Radio and microUSB 2.0. The sole sensor provided in the phone is an Accelerometer.

  • The phone offers a decent value for money.
  • The cameras work decently and take some interesting pics.
  • Battery seems to work well.
  • Internal storage could have been better, as the 8GB of internal storage proves to be very less.
