The Lenovo K3 Note was launched in March 2015 and sported a host of features at a mouthwatering price. It’s the direct result of the price war amongst various manufacturers that this smartphone boasts amazing features at the best price. The phone serves as a real value for money product owing to which it gets sold within seconds on the online flash sales.
It seems like Lenovo has stopped innovating regarding design on its budget smartphones. This time, Lenovo, has again gone for its flat design with white shells running on the sides and rear. The only observable difference in this phone is the satiny texture given to the rear panel of the phone. Just like Lenovo’s previous smartphones, the front side display of the phone has three soft buttons located at the base of the front panel, while Dolby Digital Plus speakers are located at the rear side of the back panel. The phone comes with two SIM card slots and an option to expand it using the MicroSD card slot provided at the back of the phone.
The phone is big as its dimensions are 6.01 x 3.00 x 0.31 inches while it is not that heavy as it weighs 150 grams only. The phone comes in three color variant i.e. Pearl White, Onyx Black, and Laser Yellow.
The Lenovo K3 Note is provided with 5.5 inches IPS capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors providing screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The phone is multi-touch enabled and has approximately 401 pixels per inch, thus producing an amazing display. The use of HD display in this smartphone is impressive, as it sets itself a class apart from other smartphones present in its price range. We did not notice any problems with the viewing angles and sunlight legibility of the phone.
The Lenovo K3 is powered by a Mediatek MT6752 chipset clocked to a 1.7 GHz Octa-core processor and 2GB RAM, the processor proves very efficient in performing simultaneous functions in the phone seamlessly. We had no problem with the working of the phone, and we did not notice any lag or delayed touch feedback when swiping through various screens on the phone. We played heavy games on the phone, and it ran smoothly, and the overheating of the phone was also in control even when we played the game continuously on it. We watched heavily encoded videos on the phone, and it was played perfectly. The phone runs on Android OS version 5.0.2 i.e. Lollipop, with planned upgrade to Android version 6.0 i.e. Marshmallow. The Vibe UI skin present in the phone is developed by Lenovo’s software team. The UI doesn’t have an app drawer and so could take the time to get used to by the users who have been using Android’s UI previously. All the widgets and icons are present on the home screen itself. The phone comes pre-installed with a lot of third-party apps, and you can uninstall them if you want to free space. Lenovo ships have few preloaded apps with the phone, including its own SHAREit, CLONEit, and SYNCit. Other apps include Truecaller, Guevara Music, Evernote, and UC Browser. Flipkart, Twitter, Skype, WeChat, and Facebook are preloaded. Few Ubisoft games come preinstalled with the phones, which you have to pay eventually for to play after a few turns. The best part about all the pre-installed apps is that you can uninstall them if you want to free space. The phone comes with a 16GB internal memory while the memory can be expanded to 32 GB by its users using the MicroSD card slot is provided in the phone.
The Lenovo K3 Note is equipped with 13 MP primary camera that is assisted by autofocus and dual-LED flashlight. The secondary camera is 5 MP. The main camera has features like Geo-tagging, touch focus and face detection. The rear camera works great provided images are snapped in bright light conditions. As the pictures clicked in dim light conditions didn’t have the clarity. The colors displayed in the photographs looked natural and one thing we did observe was that close-up shots produced the far better result than compared to faraway shots. At night, the only way to get decent snaps was to find a source of light focusses directly on the subject to be photographed.
Lenovo K3 Note is loaded with Replaceable Li-Ion battery which is 3000 mAh that promises a standby time up to 36 hours on 3G network and talktime of up to 750 hours. The phone was performed loop test on the battery and found out that the battery worked just okay, and you can use the phone for a day with moderate to heavy usage. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth v4.1, A2DP, LE, A-GPS, GLONASS, FM Radio and microUSB v2.0, USB Host.
The Lenovo K3 Note offers a power packed performance, and you won’t be disappointed with its performance. The Vibe UI running in the phone offers amazing software tweaks. Also, the HD screen provided in the phone is amazing and sets it class apart from its competitors. The Dolby Atmos audio enhancement provided in the phone works its charm and you can feel the difference when using it.
Talking about the downsides of the phone, there were two things we observed. The first thing was that the camera quality, as the camera failed to capture good snaps in dim light conditions. Secondly, the fact that the battery life could have been much better.
The Lenovo K3 Note is the best smartphone for users that are searching for value for money smartphone. The phone offers the range of features at very affordable prices that gives users an opportunity to experience high-end flagship features without compromising much on their budget.
