Lenovo Vibe B Design and Display
Lenovo Vibe B Design

The phone has a rather trivial look and there’s nothing that distincts it from the rest. The phone comes with three soft touch capacitive buttons that are not backlit. The volume rocker and power buttons are provided on the right edge of the phone and the speaker has been provided in the lower part of the rear panel. The external dimensions of the phone are 132.5 mm x 66 mm x 9.9 mm and it weighs 144 grams. The phone is perfectly handy and feels lightweight. The phone is available in two color variants i.e. black and white. We wished that the phone had some distinctive design. The phone comes with a 4.5-inch IPS LCD Capacitive touchscreen that provides a screen resolution of 480 x 854 pixels and roughly corresponds to 294 ppi rich screen. The display somehow manages to get the job done but then again we feel that the brightness of the screen could have been better. Many a times when we used the phone in bright sunlight, we were not able to view the screen properly. Overall, the phone looks decent enough and has a display that manages to serve its purpose.

Lenovo Vibe B Performance
Lenovo Vibe B Performance

The Lenovo Vibe B features a Quad core 1.0 GHz processor that is backed by a MediaTek MT6735M chipset. The processor is able to provide a decent Android experience. Then again, one cannot play heavy games and videos on the phone, as the phone would lag way too much. The Mali T720 GPU provided in the phone makes sure that the phone is able to play light games and videos easily. The phone features 1GB of RAM, which turns out to be enough for performing general functions. The phone runs on Android ecosystem, v6.0 i.e. Marshmallow. The phone comes with 8GB of internal storage and the internal storage could be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card. The phone supports 4G networks and provides single SIM support.

Lenovo Vibe B Camera

The phone features a 5MP camera that is backed by autofocus and LED flashlight. Also, a 2MP front camera has been provided in the phone. The primary camera has features like Continuous shooting, Digital zoom, Geotagging, Panorama, HDR, Touch focus, Face detection, White balance settings, ISO settings, Exposure compensation, Self-timer and Scene mode. HD video recording would also be done by the camera at frames like 720p@30fps. We have observed that entry level smartphones feature with basic cameras and this smartphone is no exception too. The camera provided in the phone captures decent images, at times ideal for shooting, like when the images are captured in bright sunlight. However, any images snapped in dim light conditions are not that impressive and a lot of noise seems to creep in the photographs. The front shooter provided in the phone can only be used for video calling purposes, as the images snapped by it are not impressive. The phone features a loudspeaker that gets sufficiently loud and a 3.5 mm audio jack is also provided in the phone.

The phone comes with a 2100 mAh Li-Ion battery. The battery provided in the smartphone is removable, which again is a common thing observed in entry-level smartphones. In the real life conditions, the phone can easily run for a day with moderate usage. Talking about the connectivity options, the phone offers basic connectivity options, such as, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth version 4.0, A2DP, A-GPS, FM radio and microUSB version 2.0. The phone comes with two kinds of sensors i.e. accelerometer and proximity.

  • The phone supports 4G/LTE networks.
  • The phone comes with a removable battery.
  • The phone provides FM radio support.
  • The design of the phone seems uninspiring and has scope for improvement.
  • Camera performance is subpar and barely average.
  • Supports only one SIM.
