EXPERT REVIEWS

INTRODUCTION

In past one and half year, Lenovo has released three models of Zuk series Z1, Z2 and Z2 Pro globally that have proved to be successful. Now this Chinese multinational technology giant is planning to launch the successor of previous Zuk 2 Pro smartphone, Lenovo Zuk Edge. Although, there is no official announcement has been made regarding the release date of the upcoming flagship phone, but the CEO of the company has already given a hint that it will be launched soon. The device was initially spotted with few details on a benchmark site, and now there are lots of rumours going on about the specifications. The information that we are providing here are expected to be proved correct, but still, we advise viewers to wait till the launch to get a confirmation.

DESIGN AND DISPLAY

The weight of Zuk Z1 which was launched in 2015 that was around 175 g with 8.9 mm thickness. Later on, when the Z2 came out, we saw a big difference in size and weight (8.5 mm and 149 g) and the Z2 Pro was, even more, lighter and thinner (7.5 mm and 145 g). It clearly shows the trend of introducing slim and light smartphones that are easy to grip and operate with one hand. By the way, it also proves that Lenovo takes feedback from users very seriously.

Speculations suggest that the new Lenovo Zuk Edge will boast a 5.5-inch capacitive touch display with full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) resolution and 401 ppi pixel density so it would be bigger than the previous Z2 Pro in size. Expected dimensions of the phone are 142.9 × 74.5 × 7.68mm so that you will get the same kind of thin body with around 160 g of weight. As per the leaks, the Zuk edge won't have a curved display, and it is not confirmed that the device will be available in Black and White variants.

PERFORMANCE AND CONFIGURATION

Performance wise the Zuk Edge is going to be one of the best smartphone offered by Lenovo ever. Alike its predecessor, the Zuk Edge, will also run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow which is well known for its power efficiency and cool functionality. Though, speculations are going on that it may come up with current generation Android 7.0 Nougat, which is even better because those who have used Google Pixel and Pixel XL are delighted by the features of the new OS.

The phone will be powered by latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC with a 2.15GHz Quad-core processor. Be ready that experience the lighting fast speed delivered by Snapdragon X12 LTE, excellent graphics by Adreno 530 GPU and ability to capture high-resolution images with zero shutter lag by Spectra Image Signal Processor (ISP) that are integrated with the 821 chip.

Rumours claim that two variants of the phone will offer 4GB RAM with 32GB internal storage and 64 or 128GB RAM with 6GB internal storage. However, you won't be able to expand memory as there won't be any support for micro SD cards.

CAMERA AND MULTIMEDIA

Lenovo Zuk Edge may exceed from many of its competitors in the similar price range in terms of camera quality because the phone is expected to have a 13MP primary camera with dual LED flash to take bright and clear pictures in low light conditions and Phase detection autofocus technology for fast and accurate focusing on subjects. The multiple standard camera features like face detection, geo tagging, etc. would also be there along with various camera modes such as Panorama and High Dynamic Range. The phone will equip an 8MP front camera with beautification features too so that you can take nice selfies anytime and share them instantly with your friends on social networks.

BATTERY AND CONNECTIVITY

It is now almost confirmed that the Zuk Edge will pack a strong 3,000 mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery which will allow users to work for hours after a single charge in 3G and 4G networks. If the battery drains out, you would be able to juice up the device in a very short time as the phone will support Quick charge 3.0 technology.

As per the information received from our sources, Lenovo Zuk Edge would be a dual SIM phone and will accept Nano SIM cards. The phone will support all network bands in 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks, including band 40 which is used in India. The phone is likely to have connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/nac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, USB 2.0 and 3.5 mm jack.
