It’s all about innovation these days, and smartphone manufacturers all over the world are trying their level best to make their smartphone rather unique. In the quest for making an entirely distinct smartphone, LG, launched a smartphone that lets you peek inside its internals. Yes, you read it right, the phone is built with a semi-transparent plastic that makes the phone unique. The phone also features with a Mozilla’s Firefox OS. So let’s see how this phone works in real life at this price range.
As already discussed the design of this phone is one of the most innovative design we have ever seen. Despite having a semi-transparent body, the phone offers an amazing grip too. One can easily expect the phone to catch everyone’s attention, as it boasts a distinct image of itself. The phone houses a home button upon which is engraved the classic Mozilla Firefox logo. The external dimensions of the phone are 139 (H) x 70 (W) x 10.5 (T) mm and weighs only 148g. The LG Fx0 features a 4.7 inches HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that provides a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and roughly translates to 312 pixels-per-inch pixel density. The display of this phone is decent as the display looks balanced with no colours getting over saturated. The sunlight legibility and viewing angles are decent too.
The phone is powered by a 1.2 GHz Quad-core processor which is backed by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8926 chipset. We have to say that the hardware provided in the phone is not at par with the price one pays to get to have this phone. The processor is decent enough to provide a seamless user experience. The smartphone offers 16 GB of internal memory, which could be expanded up to 64GB using the microSD card slot provided in the phone. The phone runs on a unique Mozilla Firefox 2.0 UI, which makes this phone have a unique software ecosystem. The phone supports 4G/LTE networks but only allows one SIM compatibility.
The phone features a 8-MP camera which is supported by digital zoom and LED flashlight. The LG Fx0 has 2.1 MP front camera. The images captured by the rear camera are decent and capture enough detail in broad sunlight. Picture quality does seem to suffer in dim light conditions. HD Video recording can be done by the camera at frames like 720p@30fps. Talking about multimedia, the smartphone features stereo loudspeaker and 3.5mm audio jack. The messaging sector of the phone has been put into the SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Mail, IM and the browser has been set to HTML 5 with no java support. The photo/video editor, Document viewer, has also been added to the phone.
The battery provided in the smartphone is 2370 mAh non-removable Li-polymer battery that can easily run for a complete day with moderate to heavy usage. The smartphone also packs the basic functions, such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth version 4.0, A-GPS, FM Radio and microUSB v2.0. There are a range of sensors installed in the phone such as Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer, Compass, and Light Sensor.
