Recently there has been a huge demand for 4G smartphones in the market, and it has led many smartphones manufacturing companies to launch their own range of lucrative LTE handsets. LG is also one of them, and they are back in the race to capture the smartphone market with LG X Skin. This is one of those smartphones which has average specifications and low price, but it also offers 4G support. Other than supporting LTE, this phone features 8-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera. This phone was announced in July this year and is expected to hit the market later coming months. Despite having lower than average battery, this phone has some decent specs. Let us see what this new smartphone from LG has to offer.
As this is a budget phone from LG, the outer body is made of plastic. The phone looks sleek, and as the name suggests, it is indeed skinny. It comes with a 5 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. The screen offers HD display, i.e. 720 x 1280 pixels resolution. A budget phone with 4G capability and HD screen is very rare.
The phone is quite slim and feels good in the palm. The dimensions of LG X Skin are 144.8 x 71.4 x 6.9 mm (5.70 x 2.81 x 0.27 in) and it weighs only 122 gm. There are no sharp edges on the body. The build of the phone is also good, despite being made of plastic.
The phone runs on 1.3GHz Quad Core processor which is backed up by 1.5GB of RAM. Android Marshmallow v6.0 looks good, and with the support of 1.5GB RAM, the performance is much better than any other smartphone in this range. With 16GB of internal memory, there is a dedicated slot for microSD card. You can use up to 32GB memory card. As the phone is a budget range phone, there is going to be a lot of bloatware on it. A memory card is, in fact, mandatory if you would like to keep some free space on your phone after using the remaining internal storage for applications and images.
The primary camera on the back of LG X Skin is an 8-megapixel shooter which is equipped with autofocus and is supported with a single LED flash alongside. It also has a 5-megapixel front camera which can be used to take selfie pictures and for video calling. The camera app has quite a good number of features and filters, such as Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama, etc. It has different scene modes as well such as landscape, night mode, night portrait or portrait. The camera captures videos at 1080p.
The battery is one of the negative aspects of this phone. It features only 2100 mAh LI-ion removable battery which is quite low for a 4G enabled phone. It is a dual sim phone, and as far as connectivity options are concerned, it offers Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, WiFi Direct, Hotspot; Bluetooth v4.1, A2DP, LE; GPS, with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC and FM Radio. It also has microUSB v2.0 port which can be used for charging the phone as well as for data transfer.
It is one of the most affordable LTE smartphone available, and the performance is also quite good. Let us take a look at its pros and cons.WHAT WE LIKED
