Recently there has been a huge demand for 4G smartphones in the market, and it has led many smartphones manufacturing companies launch their range of lucrative LTE handsets. LG is also one of them, and they are back in the race to capture the smartphone market with LG X5. This is one of those smartphones that have little above average specifications and come with a budget price. Other than supporting LTE, this phone features a 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera. This phone was announced along with LG X5 in July this year and is expected to hit the market later this month. The battery is also quite enough sized along with some decent specs. Let’s see what this new smartphone from LG has to offer.
As this is a budget phone from LG, the outer body is made of plastic. The phone looks sleek and as the name suggests, it is skinny. It comes with a 5.5 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. The screen offers HD display, i.e. 720 x 1280 pixels resolution. A budget phone with 4G capability and HD screen is very rare. The phone is quite slim and feels good in the palm. The dimensions of LG X5 are 151.6 x 76.9 x 7.2 mm (5.97 x 3.03 x 0.28 in) and weighs only 133 gm. There are no sharp edges on the body. The build of the phone is also good, although it’s made out of plastic.
The phone runs on 1.3 GHz Quad Core processor, which is backed up by 2GB of RAM. Android Marshmallow v6.0 looks good, and with the support of 2 GB RAM, the performance is much better than any other smartphone in this range. With 16GB of internal memory, there is a dedicated slot for microSD card. You can use up to a 32GB memory card. Although, as the phone is a budget range phone, so as expected, there is going to be a lot of bloatware on it. Using a memory card seems a must with this phone if you would like to keep some free space on your phone after using the remaining internal storage for applications and multimedia.
The primary camera on the back of LG X5 is a 13MP shooter, which is equipped with autofocus and is supported with a single LED flash alongside. It also has a 5MP front camera, which can be used to take selfie pictures and for video calling. The camera app has tons of features and filters, such as Geo-tagging, touch focus, HDR, panorama, etc. It has different scene modes as well like landscape, night mode, night portrait or portrait. Both the cameras capture videos at 1080p.
The phone contains a loudspeaker and an audio jack of 3.5 mm. The multimedia features also include a dedicated microphone with the active noise cancellation features. The types of alerts are WAV ringtones, vibration and MP3. The audio formats which are supported by the phone are eAAC+/ MP3/ FLAC player/ WAV, and the video formats are DivX/Xvid/ H.265 player / MP4, etc.
The battery is one of the negative aspects of LG X5, but it is much better in LG X5. It features 2800 mAh LI-ion removable battery in comparison to X LG X5’s 2100 mAh which is quite low for a 4G enabled phone. It is a dual sim phone, and for connectivity, it offers Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, WiFi Direct, Hotspot; Bluetooth v4.1, A2DP, LE; GPS, with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC and FM Radio. It also has microUSB v2.0 port, which can be used for charging the phone, as well as for data transfer.
It is one of the most affordable LTE smartphone available, and the performance is also quite good. Let’s take a look at its pros and cons.WHAT WE LIKED
