Micromax has been manufacturing some pretty decent budget segment smartphones for quite some while now. They started their business in India and since then have expanded their business in multiple countries now. Recently, they announced two new budget segment smartphones i.e. Micromax Vdeo 3 and Micromax Vdeo 4. The thing that makes these phone very special is the fact that not only they are budget segment smartphone but also have 4G VoLTE capabilities coupled with video-calling via the Google Duo app. The company has heavily advertised these smartphones, as one that offers 4G capabilities that too at a budget price tag. Let’s get some detail as to what does the phone offer and how it turns out to be.
The phone has an almost similar look like its younger sibling i.e. Micromax Vdeo 3. The phone has the same rectangular look coupled with smooth exteriors thus providing a decent look to the phone. The phone is available in two color variants i.e. white and black. Overall, the phone looks decent for a budget segment smartphone and surely catches user’s attention. The phone comes with a 5.0-inches IPS LCD Capacitive touchscreen that would provide screen resolution of 720 X 1280 pixels and roughly corresponding to 294 ppi rich screen. The display is also has a Corning Gorilla Glass Protection that protects the display from scratches. The display is decent for a budget segment smartphone, as the screen gets bright enough and looks lively. The sunlight legibility and viewing angles are decent too for a budget segment smartphone.
The phone features a 1.1 GHz Quad-core processor that is backed by a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8909 210 processor. The phone is also backed by 1GB of RAM. The Qualcomm processor used in the phone works decent enough and the processor is able to play light games and apps on the phone without any problem. However, one cannot expect the phone to play heavy games and heavily encoded videos, as phone doesn’t have the power to handle that kind of requirement. The phone runs on Android ecosystem, version 6.0 i.e. Marshmallow. The phone comes with 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card. The best part about this phone is the fact that it is a 4G VoLTE enabled dual-SIM smartphone with support for 850/900/1800/1900MHz bands.
Talking about one of the most crucial part of the smartphones i.e. the camera. The Micromax Vdeo 4 features with an 8-MP primary camera that is backed by autofocus and LED flash. Also, a 2MP front camera has been provided in the phone. The primary camera supports basic functions like Touch to focus and offers shooting modes such as Continuous Shooting, High Dynamic Range mode (HDR). The camera setting would also include Exposure compensation and ISO control. Video recording is also done by the camera at frames like 720p. The camera provided in the phone is a little better compared to the 5MP camera provided in Micromax Vdeo 3. The images captured by the rear camera are decent, however, the images captured could have been better. The low light performance is also not impressive, as the images attract a lot of noise. The front shooter is only good enough for video calling. The phone features a loudspeaker which gets loud enough and also comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack.
Talking about the battery provided in the phone, the phone comes with a 4000mAh Li-Polymer battery. In real life conditions, the battery can run up for a almost two days with moderate to heavy usage. The phone offers basic connectivity options, such as, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth, GPS, USB OTG and microUSB 2.0. The phone has three kinds of sensors i.e. ambient light sensor, accelerometer and proximity, which again is what we generally see in budget segment smartphones.
