Microsoft has been launching its flagship tablets under the banner of Surface Pro. Every couple of years they launch the next gen version of their tablets and each their tablets keep getting better and better. Recently, there have been rumors regarding their upcoming Surface Pro 5 tablet. Let’s take a look at how the upcoming tablet might turn out.
When Microsoft launched its Surface Pro, it single-handedly removed almost all competition in the tablet segment when it was matched with other tabs in terms of display. The tablet featured a 12.3 inch screen that provided a screen resolution of 2,736 x 1,824 pixels and housed approximately 267 ppi. So, one can expect a far better display in the upcoming Surface Pro 5. Many experts believe that the next tablet would be equipped with a 4K screen that would make it one of a kind device. The previous tab featured a display that was enough for almost all kinds of tasks, so this time we might not expect any kind of major changes in the display size of the tab. One might not be able to see any big design changes in the upcoming device too.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 was completely built using the now obsolete Skylake architecture, but then again now those days are finally gone. Intel recently announced its next gen Kaby Lake processors that are capable of faster clock speed changes and boosted clock speeds, which is all due to the 14nm manufacturing process. Many experts believe that this time Microsoft will go for the new Kaby Lake processors instead of the Skylake processors, but then again they might go for the old one too. This time again Microsoft can go for the same three variants that were available for Microsoft Surface Pro 4 i.e. tabs with 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB RAM. Internal storage would comprise of Solid state drive (SSD) options: 128GB, 256GB or 512GB providing graphic capabilities as M3: Intel HD graphics 515, i5: Intel HD graphics 520 and i7: Intel Iris graphics. Then again, these specs could turn out to be revised too. It is also rumored that this time Microsoft might incorporate eSIM technology in its upcoming Surface Pro 5. With the use of this novel technology in its tab, Microsoft, might become the first major hybrid manufacturer to do so. With the use of eSIM technology, existing SIM cards can be standardized in the tab based on its hardware. The eSIM can automatically change its plan depending on the country where it shall operate, thus providing greater flexibility to its users.
While the previous tablet, Surface Pro 4 featured with 8.0MP rear-facing autofocus camera with 1080p HD video recording and a 5.0MP front-facing camera with 1080p HD video recording capability. Many experts believe that the upcoming tab might feature same cameras with an improved sensor. However, nothing is sure as of now. The tab will again feature with Windows Hello face sign-in camera (front-facing) feature. With the rumored specs, one would easily be able to capture amazing pics with the tablet. The front camera would be able to provide high quality video chatting capability. The tablet will feature with Stereo microphones and Stereo speakers with Dolby Audio Premium enhancement. A 3.5 mm jack will also be provided in the tab.
When the Surface Pro 4 was launched, Microsoft, claimed that it would offer battery backup for up to 9 hours, however, in real life we weren’t able to get that much juice from the battery. This time it is rumored that the upcoming Surface Pro 5 would offer even better battery backup than its predecessor. It is believed that Microsoft has provided Intel’s Kaby Lake processors in the upcoming device, so as to increase the battery life of the Surface Pro 5. Intel has hinted that the new processors would be able to provide up to 9 hours of battery life to the upcoming device. Talking about connectivity options, the tablet is expected to feature with 802.11ac Wi-Fi wireless networking, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n compatible, Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology, micro USB 3.0. It is also rumored that this time Microsoft will finally add a USB-C port to the tab. The other sensors that are expected in the tablet are ambient light sensor, accelerometer and gyroscope.
