Nokia is doing an exceptional job by producing smartphones that look exceptionally well. They have been careful in launching their smartphones and seem to be targeting mid-segment users as of right now. Nokia has announced the rumored Nokia 5 at the MWC, 2017 at Barcelona along with Nokia 3 smartphone and the Nokia 3310 feature phone.
The Nokia 5 has been designed as a sleek phone with curved edges. The phone has a seamless aluminium body along with a 5.2-inches wide, HD sculpted Corning Gorilla Display. The phone has dimensions 149.7 x 72.5 x 8.05 mm (8.55 with camera bump) and will be available in four colours to choose from - Silver, Matte Black,Copper and Tempered Blue. The phone appears classy in its own way and we found it quite appealing.
The 5.2” display will have HD resolution of 1280x720 pixels with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The screen will have a very good maximum brightness of 500 nits, which will help us view the screen even in high sunlight, given that Nokia 5 will have the polarizer feature.
The phone will come with a physical home button and two soft touch capacitive buttons. The volume rocker and power buttons will be provided on the right edge of the phone and the speaker grille on the bottom edge.
The phone incorporates the Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430 chipset. The processor has the potential to provide a decent Android experience. One thing users should keep in mind is that the processor will only be able to provide a barely decent experience. The GPU programming has been customized by Nokia, which will make sure that graphics performance of the phone remains amazing.
Nokia announced that the phone will run on pure Android 7.0 Nougat factory installed. Apparently a stock android performance will mean users will have access to all the features of Nougat such as split screen, ‘doze’, improved daydream mode etc.
Nokia will install a 2GB RAM in the Nokia 5 along with 16GB of storage space. Users will have access to approximately 12 GB of it. The storage of the phone will be expandable by upto 128GB through an external MicroSD card. Google drive 100GB cloud storage option is also available for users. The phone will come in single SIM and dual-SIM variants and both will support 4G/LTE, HSPA (HSDPA/HSUPA) 3G and 2G Edge network bands.
The Nokia 5 will sport a 13MP PDAF camera w/ 1.12um focal length, f/2.0 aperture and dual tone flash. The camera features include Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face detection and Touch to focus. Shooting modes should include Continuous Shooting and High Dynamic Range mode (HDR). HD video recording would be done by the camera.
In the front, we’ll have an 8MP AF camera w/1.12um focal length, f/2.0 aperture and FOV 84 degrees, specially designed for selfies. The front camera resolution seems good enough for selfies as well as HQ video calling.
The phone has an integrated 3000mAh battery. With the specifications of this phone, we’re anticipating the battery to last almost a full day even with heavy usage. There has been no information from Nokia about fast charging support; we’re ruling out fast charging support. The phone has features like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1, LE, GPS w/A-GPS, FM Radio and micro USB 2.0.
The phone has a wide range of sensors. Nokia has installed an ambient light sensor, Accelerometer (G-sensor), e-compass, Fingerprint sensor, Hall sensor, proximity sensor, gyroscope, and NFC (sharing).
Every phone has some good points and some bad points. Nokia 5 has its own set of pros and cons.WHAT WE LIKED
