Microsoft has been very active since it acquired Nokia’s mobile unit. Though Nokia’s Mobility division was taken over by Microsoft, reports suggest that Microsoft may not drop the Nokia’s name in their upcoming smartphones. They have been continuously restructuring Nokia’s mobile division and many rumors suggest that they might launch the next gen successor to Lumia 1525, a flagship phablet. According to online reports, Microsoft, may launch the phablet under a new branding i.e. Nokia by Microsoft. So, let’s see what we know about the upcoming smartphone.


Microsoft is expected to provide the signature Lumia design to this smartphone too. The phone shall feature with a rectangular design with sharp corners and high built quality. The volume rocker, power and camera shutter button shall be provided on the right edge of the phone and the speaker shall be provided on the back of the phone. Three soft touch capacitive button shall also be provided in the phone just below the front display. The phone is expected to be launched in multi-color variants. If we talk about the rumored display of the phone, it is also believed that the phone shall feature with a 6.0 inches UHD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that would provide a screen resolution of 1440×2560 pixels. It is also rumored that the display provided in the phone shall be protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The 490 ppi rich display would make sure that the display looks lively and full of colors. The UHD display shall be able to provide a pleasurable viewing experience to its users. With such display, the phone is all set to have fantastic sunlight legibility and amazing viewing angles too. Overall, the phone shall feature with a the hit Lumia design and a UHD display.


If we go according to the online rumors, the phone is expected to feature with a Quad core, Krait 450 processor that would be backed by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset. The processor would be able to provide a seamless Android experience. It is also rumored that an Adreno 420 GPU would also be provided in the phone. The Adreno GPU will make sure that games and videos are played on the phone without any problems. The phone is expected to run on Microsoft Windows ecosystem and it is rumoured that the phone will run on Windows 8.1 OS. The Nokia Lumia 1525 is expected to come with internal storage of 32GB and expandable up to 64GB by using a microSD card. It is also believed that the phone would come with 3GB of RAM, which would be enough to run almost all kinds of apps. However, the phone support one SIM only.


Nokia has been able to provide amazing cameras in their smartphones and it is believed that this phone will sport a 25MP rear camera with 4-axis Optical Image stabilization, PDAF and LED flashlight. The camera features would include Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face detection and Touch to focus. Shooting modes should include Continuous Shooting and High Dynamic Range mode (HDR). HD video recording would be done by the camera at frames at FHD 1080p@30fps. The phone is also rumored to feature a 12MP front camera. With the rumored specs one shall be able to take amazing photographs and the 25MP camera would be able to take high quality images be whatever the scenario. The selfie shooter shall be able to capture decent photographs too. The main purpose of the front cam is believed to be video calls primarily, it is speculated. A loudspeaker and a 3.5 mm jack with active noise cancellation and dedicated mic is also expected to be provided with the phone.


It is believed that the phone will feature a 3400 mAh Li-Ion battery. It is rumored that the battery won’t support quick charging, but will support several power saving profiles. The phone is expected to feature incorporate Wi-Fi 802.11 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth, LE, A-GPS, GLONASS, and micro USB 2.0 for communications. Other sensors that are expected in the phone are accelerometer, compass and proximity.
