OnePlus is all set to launch a new smartphone named OnePlus Pixel soon which is claimed to be a strong competitor of Google Pixel. However, OnePlus Pixel was also spotted on GeekBench where it was listed with few details regarding the processor, RAM and OS. Rumours claim the unannounced OnePlus Pixel smartphone would be an upgrade of OnePlus 3 with Android Nougat OS. There is a reason behind such speculations because the information which has been leaked about the phone clearly shows that the specifications of the phone are very similar to the popular OnePlus 3 which was launched a couple of months ago globally. It is possible that instead of making a whole new device with totally different configuration, OnePlus simply upgrade the operating system and launch the device with a new name and a few minor changes.
As we already mentioned that details regarding display and build of the phone are not available and there is no leaked image too, which gives an idea that how the upcoming phone will look like? Since we are assuming that it would be very much like the previous OnePlus 3, we can expect a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED full HD ( (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with 401 ppi pixel density or even more. The build quality of OnePlus 3 was excellent, and we strongly believe that there is only a minor scope of improvement while crafting OnePlus Pixel. For example, that can reduce the weight a bit or make some changes in shape to provide better grip with a single hand, because the previous model was a bit slippery.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC is going to be integrated into the upcoming OnePlus Pixel to power the phone with 1.59 GHz Quad core processor and most probably the Adreno 530 GPU which seems sufficient to deliver fluid performance and high-end graphics. OnePlus Pixel will come with incredible 6GB RAM for fast navigation and smooth multi-tasking. The phone will run improved and feature-packed OxygenOS based on latest Android 7.1 Nougat, which appears in Google Pixel and Pixel XL.
These details were showcased on the listing of the benchmark site, so we are sure that the phone will have such components. You might have also realized that the specifications are very similar to OnePlus 3 except the version of the OS and of course, the clock speed of OnePlus 3 was better. So does that mean OnePlus Pixel will have lower specifications than its predecessor? We cannot say anything about that, but it is possible that OnePlus might launch 3T at cheaper rate compare to Google Pixel with similar details and OnePlus Pixel as a mid-range device to impress all kind of users.
One thing that users really likes about the smartphones of OnePlus is their camera quality. I found the camera features and performance of OnePlus 3 satisfactory and believe that the upcoming OnePlus Pixel will not disappoint me or any other user who is fond of photography through the mobile camera. In the previous device, we saw a 16MP rear camera equipped with Sony IMX 298 Sensor and f/2.0 lens.
This time we expect at least an 18MP camera with similar lens and sensor, features like Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), auto-HDR, phase detection autofocus technology and dual tone LED flash. The primary camera should also have the ability to shoot 4K videos at 30fps and slow motion 720p videos at 120fps. The camera software that was present in the previous phone and 8MP front camera were good so even if they repeat the same, users would be happy.
To be honest, I have no idea how much the battery capacity of the phone would be, but it cannot be lower than 3000 mAh for sure. The company might offer a 3,200 or even stronger battery with this phone as many other smartphones are actually coming with that much battery capacity in the mid-range price section.
We have no doubt that the phone will have connectivity options on par with other smartphones, so you are likely to get Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/nac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, USB 2.0, etc. It is definitely going to have a dual SIM card slot which will accept Nano SIM and there won't be a microSD card slot alike previous models of OnePlus. Each new smartphone now a days support 4G LTE network so I don't think that this phone would be an exception.
