The Oppo F5 Youth is Chinese company’s latest installation in the market. That has been on for quite a while and it’s time it saw the light of the day. The F5 is rumored to launch around November of 2017. Since the device hasn’t hit the shelves yet, the specs are subject to change and none of it should be taken as the final word. We have gathered intel from around the web and the goal of this article is to give you a brief idea of what to expect. For starts, the device will be targeting the mid-level market segment. The speculations about it are still in debate and will most probably be available in gold and rose gold color variants. The Oppo F5 Youth seems to be a lighter version of the F5, lacking only in the camera specs. The processors of the devices will most probably also vary.

Oppo F5 Youth Design and Display
Oppo F5 Youth Design & build

The F5 Youth comes with a 6-inch IPS LCD display with a Full HD resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels and a pixel density of 402 ppi, which is quite good. In terms of design, it will sport a metal body with a fingerprint sensor at the rear, just below the camera. It will have rounded edges and a screen-to-body ratio of ~80%. Since the device targets the mid-level segment, on order for it to be appealing, the F5 Youth has to have a premium look. According to the leaked images on the internet so far, the company has done a great job in terms of its appearances. Considering it to be a lighter version of the F5, the F5 youth doesn’t have that many downsides. The package is almost the same right up to the design, which is a good thing.

The powerhouse of the F5 Youth hasn’t been released on the net. We can only assume what it will be since we have an idea of its targeted price segment. In the mid-level scenery, smartphones usually pack the mid-level package i.e., the octa-core Qualcomm 630 processor or the MediaTek MT6750 processor. The Kirin processor is also a viable option. In terms of GPU, it shall either have the Adreno 508 or the Mali-T830 MP 2 series.

The above-mentioned processors are the best in the market for the mid-segment price range. Therefore there is a high chance that the F5 Youth may sport anyone one of them. it can also be a whole new processor since nothing is set in stone.

Moving on, unlike the F5, the F5 Youth will have no memory variants (none hasn’t been announced yet). It will have 32GB of internal storage and 3GB of RAM. Whether or not there is a dedicated a memory card is not known yet. The chances of it being a hybrid sim card slot are far too high. The configuration stats of the F5 Youth is still among the mist, and we will update the details as soon as we have a confirmation on the build.

Oppo F5 Youth Camera

The F5 Youth comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera which supports phase detection autofocus and also an LED flash. Video recording is supported at 1080p@30fps. The real deal breaker with this device is that it has two front-facing 12-megapixel cameras. Taking selfies just got a whole lot better. The selfie hype is still in its youth, but rigging a smartphone with two front-facing cameras is overkill.

Like the F5, the F5 Youth will also don’t have any radio. It will, however, support the basic audio and video codecs. MP3, WAV, eAAC+, M4A, MP4, H.264, FLV are all supported on this device. You can also install a third party software such as for additional codec supports.

The F5 Youth sports a 4000mAh Li-ion battery which is quite decent. The battery performance depends on the optimization of the device, but 4000 is a good place to start. The smartphone will also have dual sim support with accommodations for 4G connectivity. It also supports micro USB 2.0 and USB on-the-go for those quick file transfers between your pen drive and mobile phones.

The device is yet to make its debut so some of the specs mentioned here may not be the same in the future.
