Panasonic is a smartphone manufacturer that remains on the back side of the smartphone market. Even though they continuously launch a range of smartphones, they somehow cannot manage much attention from the market. They have always focused more on the budget segment of smartphones and their strategy seems to be working well. Panasonic recently launched its “Panasonic Eluga Pulse” smartphone that featured as a 4G VoLTE enabled smartphone. The phone has been given decent hardware configuration and also features with a fingerprint scanner.
The phone boasts a traditional design and carries a decent look. The volume rocker and power buttons have been provided on the left edge of the phone and the SIM card tray has been provided on the right edge of the phone. The fingerprint scanner can be found on the back panel of the phone just below the camera module. Regarding the color variants of the phone, it is available in two color variants i.e. Champagne Gold and Silver Gray. The phone boasts a 5.0-inches IPS LCD Capacitive touchscreen that would provide screen resolution of 720 X 1280 pixels and roughly corresponding to 294 ppi rich screen. The display proves to be decent and serves its purpose. The sunlight legibility was decent and so were the viewing angles. Overall, the phone has a decent design and display.
The phone features a Quad-core 1.25 GHz processor which would be backed by an unspecified chipset. The processor seems to work great as general functions done by the phone turn out to be smooth. The processor lets the users play light games and videos easily. Though the phone works great for normal day to day functions, one cannot expect the phone to play heavy games and heavily encoded videos, as frame drops and stutter might be observed. The phone is expected to run on Android ecosystem, version 6.0 i.e. Marshmallow. The processor backed by a 2GB RAM, which according to us is decent. The best part about the phone is that it is supports 4G VoLTE and offers dual SIM functionality. There are very few smartphones in this price segment that offer such specifications. We believe that this smartphone has a huge potential and can turn out to be a huge success.
The main camera features a 13MP camera that would be backed by autofocus and triple-LED flashlight. Also, a 5MP front camera has been provided in the phone, which again is impressive for a budget segment smartphone. The primary camera is expected to have features like Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face detection, Touch to focus and would have various shooting modes such as Continuous Shooting, High Dynamic Range mode (HDR). The camera setting would also include Exposure compensation and ISO control. HD video recording would also be done by the camera. The images captured by the camera turn out to be decent, however, there are few areas which had room for improvements. The images captured in dim light conditions turn out to be okay, but at times, it seems that lot of noise seems to creep in the photographs. The front shooter was able to capture some decent selfies. Overall, for a budget segment of smartphone, the camera works well. The phone feature a speaker which gets loud enough, however, a little bit of noise distortion could be observed at high volumes. The phone also features a 3.5 mm audio jack. The phone offers a range of features that too in budget segment and we believe that if given chance, the phone would turn out to be very useful for its users.
A non-removable 2200 mAh Li-Ion battery is provided in the smartphone. The battery turns out to be great and can work for an entire day with moderate to heavy usage. Talking about the connectivity options, the phone boasts connectivity options, such as, Wi-Fi 802.11, b/g/n, Mobile Hotspot, Bluetooth version 4.0, A-GPS and microUSB 2.0. The phone comes with sensors such as light sensor, proximity sensor and accelerometer. If we talk about the overall functionality of the phone, we can say it is impressive.
