Panasonic has launched quite a few budget-friendly smartphones, which were also well received by the smartphone market. Adding another smartphone to its budget segment of smartphones, Panasonic, launched its ‘Eluga U2’ smartphone. So, let’s see what this smartphone has to offer to its users at a low price.
Talking about the external dimensions of the phone, it has physical dimensions as 5.57x2.81x0.31 inches, which makes it a rather handy smartphone. The phone weighs only 131 gm, thus making it a very lightweight smartphone. Regarding the colour variants of the phone, it comes in two colour variant i.e. Black and White. The phone has a rather traditional look with its smooth panels and shiny exteriors. Overall, the phone looks decent. Talking about the display of this phone, the Panasonic Eluga U2 features a 5.0 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that provides a screen resolution 1080x1920 pixels that roughly translates to 441 pixels-per-inch pixel density. The display looks rather sharp, and the colour reproduction looks fine. There is no issues observed regarding the viewing angles, and the sunlight legibility is good too. Overall, the display is beautiful and provides a pleasurable viewing experience.
The phone is powered by a Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 processor which has a Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 chipset. The quad-core processor works great and can provide a power packed performance. However, some lag or stutter could be encountered while switching through various apps, but then again this happens rarely. The smartphone offers 16GB of internal memory, which could be expanded up to 32GB using the microSD card slot provided in the phone. The phone runs on Android OS, version 5.0 i.e. Lollipop. It comprises 2GB RAM to make the interface user-friendly. The phone offers single-SIM functionality and supports 4G/LTE networks.
The phone features a 13MP primary camera that is supported by a LED flashlight, and the front shooter is provided with a 5MP camera. The images captured by the phone are great as they capture detail. The low light photography seems to suffer a bit, as some noise does seem to creep in images captured in low light. The video recording is done by the rear camera at frames like 1080p@30fps. Talking about multimedia, the phone features a stereo loudspeaker, 3.5mm audio jack. The phone also features MP4/XviD /H.265 player, MP3/WAV/eAAC+/Flac player, Photo/video editor and a Document viewer. The sensors that come with the smartphone include accelerometer, proximity and compass.
The battery provided in the smartphone works averagely. Having topped with a 2500 mAh Li-Ion removable battery, this phone can work for an entire day with moderate usage. The phone does not support fast charging. The smartphone comprises connectivity functions, such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth version 4.1 with A2DP, A-GPS, FM Radio and microUSB version 2.0.
