Last year, Samsung launched their Galaxy A series, which was quite successful. The A series stands between the premium Samsung Galaxy S series and the budget Samsung Galaxy J series. We saw Galaxy A3 (2016), Galaxy A7 (2016) and Galaxy A5 (2016) last year in Galaxy A series, and Samsung is looking to expand the series by adding a few new phones and successors to last year’s phones. The first one to be added in the lot is suspected to be Galaxy A3 (2017).
The new smartphone has already been spotted on a benchmarking website Geekbench, along with another benchmarking website GFXBench, an Indian import & export website Zauba and also on the website of Bluetooth Special Interest Group, in the last few months. The phone will be very similar to its predecessor in design, and the only difference will be the chipset and cameras. Let us have a deeper look at its rumoured features, and have a guess at what we might be getting this year on Galaxy A3 (2017) –
As is the case with almost every Samsung device, the design is very basic and identical, the Galaxy A3 (2017) will also have the same design to what we saw last year on A3 (2016). As we saw last year, the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) will have the power key on its right and the volume rocker on its left. The back panel will feature the primary camera of 12 megapixels. It will have a single LED flash alongside it. On the other side of the primary camera, there will be the speaker.
At the front, it will have the secondary camera on top beside the earpiece. There will be no capacitive buttons. The microUSB v2.0 port for charging and data transfer will be placed at the bottom. The 3.5 mm audio jack will be positioned at the top. The phone’s dimensions are rumoured to be same as that of its predecessor. The phone will be available in black, white, gold and pink variants. The screen will be a 4.7 inch HD display, with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and will have the pixel density of 312 ppi. On top of it, Samsung will be using Corning Gorilla Glass 4 to protect it against scratches and random drops.
The Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) will run on Samsung Exynos 7870 chipset with an octa-core processor Cortex A53 at a clock rate of 1.59 GHz. It will come with Mali-T720 MP2 GPU and 2 GB of RAM. There will be 8 GB/16 GB of internal storage available, and the memory card slot will be able to accept miscroSD card with capacity up to 256 GB. The specs are pretty decent and very similar to those of the predecessors.
There is very little information available regarding the cameras of Galaxy A3 (2017). So far, what we know is that the primary camera on the back will be a 12-megapixel shooter. It will be equipped with autofocus and a single LED flash alongside. The rear camera will capable of recording videos at 1080p. It will have an 8-megapixel front camera, which can be used to take selfie pictures and for video calling. The camera app will have several features such as Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama, etc. The image quality is yet to be reviewed.
The last year’s A3 had a 2300 mAh battery, which was less. Possibly, this year, we will see a better battery in Galaxy A3 (2017). It will come in both single and dual SIM models. Remaining connectivity options will be Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/nac, hotspot; Bluetooth 4.1, GPS with A-GPS and microUSB 2.0.
