At the beginning of 2016, Samsung launched their Galaxy A series which was quite successful. The A series stands between the premium Samsung Galaxy S series and the budget Samsung Galaxy J series. We saw Galaxy A3 (2016), Galaxy A7 (2016) and Galaxy A5 (2016) last year in Galaxy A series, and Samsung is looking to expand the series by adding a few new phones and successors to the previous year’s phones. Hopefully, in the first month of 2017, we will see the unveiling of Galaxy A5 (2017).
The new smartphone has already been spotted on several benchmarking websites in August, and also the device has got Wi-Fi certified last month. The benchmarking websites assert that Galaxy A5 2017 shall possibly sport Samsung Exynos 7880 chipset, with octa-core CPU (4 x 1.87 GHz Cortex A72 & 4 x 1.3 GHz Cortex A53). It was spotted under model numbers SM-A520F and SM-A520/FDS. One of the main selling points for this phone will be its design. The design will be little similar, but it will be made with a combination of metal and glass. Let us have a deeper look at its rumoured features, and have a guess at what we might be getting this year on Galaxy A5 (2017) –
Galaxy A5 (2017) has already been seen in many leaked images, and it looks like a phone with a premium looking design. This phone borrows a lot of features from the very popular Galaxy S7. The phone’s body is made of metal, but it has a covering of glass over it. This “glass sandwich” design was seen in Galaxy S7, and it looks much better on this one. The back panel will have harmonious curves on the edges, and the camera will not protrude from the back at all. The dimensions of the phone will be 145 mm x 71 mm x 7.8 mm, meaning it will be 0.5 mm thicker than its predecessor and obviously the reason will be the extra glass sheet on the back panel.
The speaker on this phone will be placed on the right-hand side, above the power key. We will have to see if this move from Samsung gets good feedback from users or not. The primary camera on the back will be supported with a single LED flash. At the front, the menu key is associated with a fingerprint sensor, with capacitive keys around it. The USB Type-C will be positioned at the bottom centre, with the 3.5 mm jack on its right. The phone will be available in black, white, gold and pink variants. The screen will be a 5.2 inch Full HD display, with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. On top of it, Samsung will be using Corning Gorilla Glass 4 to protect it against scratches and random drops.
The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) will run on Samsung Exynos 7880 chipset, with an octa-core processor (4 x 1.87 GHz Cortex A72 & 4 x 1.3 GHz Cortex A53).
It will come with Mali- T860MP4 GPU and 3GB of RAM. There will be 32 GB of internal storage available. There is a possibility of a memory card slot with an ability to accept cards with 256 GB capacity.
There is information available regarding the cameras of Galaxy A5 (2017). So far, what we know is that the primary camera on the back will be the same 13-megapixel shooter, which will be equipped with autofocus and a single LED flash alongside. The rear camera will be capable of recording videos at 1080p. It will have an 8 megapixel front camera, which can be used to take selfie pictures and for video calling. The camera app will have several features such as Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama, etc. The image quality is yet to be reviewed.
The battery is expected to be at least with 3000 mAh capacity. The phone will be available in both single and double SIM models. Remaining connectivity options will be Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/nac, hotspot; Bluetooth 4.1, GPS with A-GPS and USB Type-C.
