Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is one of the most anticipated phones of the year 2016. The Galaxy Note series from Samsung has never disappointed their fans, and they continue to please their fans with their latest addition to the series- Galaxy Note 6. The phone is not yet released, but the rumors have been running around for quite a while. There are even rumors regarding the name of this phone. Some of them are quite obvious, but some of them look quite outrageous. From our sources, we have some solid information regarding the specifications and also about the “name game” which Samsung is expected to play with their next Galaxy Note phone. Here you will find possible specifications about the Samsung Galaxy Note 6. But before going into detail about the phone’s specs, let us talk about the rumors regarding the name of this phone.
THE NAME GAME
According to the South Korean news sources, the Samsung’s next flagship phablet will not be called Galaxy Note 6, as all of us expected. Samsung is looking to skip the number 6, and go with the name Galaxy Note 7. But why? The main reason behind this name change has something to do with the consistency. Samsung launched their S7 and S7 edge this year, and Samsung wants all of their flagships released in the same year with the same number so that there’s no chance of people assuming that Note 6 is a like a generation older than the S7 edge( for example). It makes a lot of sense. However, these are still rumors.
There are some rumors regarding the design of this phablet. There are possibilities of the phone being waterproof and dust resistant. There is a significant probability that this could be true. From what we have heard, the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is going to be IP68 certified. Most probably, the phone will look very similar to the Galaxy S7 Edge, but there will be some room for an S Pen along with a slightly larger display. Note 6 is set to have a 5.8 inch with 1440 x 2560 resolution, a Quad-HD Super AMOLED display, with the pixel density of 518 ppi and it might be a curved display. We have heard some other rumors that Galaxy Note 6 will have both curved and flat screen in two different models. It will certainly be at least QHD, which Samsung Galaxy Note 5 had. The curved screen is very likely to happen with Note 6, as a leaked teaser shows such display, and it also suggests that you will be able to write on the curved part, on the edge. Also, this rumor is backed by a report that Samsung has filed a patent for the same. And more importantly, the display will have several new features like 3D touch.
The all new Galaxy Note 6 is going to be incredibly powerful. According to the recent reports, the device will be packed with 2.6 GHz Snapdragon 823 processor, which is not yet announced. Given that the Snapdragon 820 allows for 6GB of RAM, it does not necessarily mean that Samsung will stick to the similar combination in Note 6. But 5 or 6 GB of RAM seems likely, and 6 GB has rumored all around, so chances are the powerful processor would be back by 6 GB of RAM. It will have the highly advanced Adreno 530 GPU. In the memory department, the phone will have 65 GB and 128 GB in different models, and there could be 256 GB of storage also available on one model. It is all possible. And, there will also be a microSD card slot. It will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. As the Android is yet to announce Android N launch details, it is very unlikely that Note 6 will receive this OS upgrade quickly. It will take quite some time.
Most of the rumors are pointing towards a 12-megapixel lens, but PhotoRumors claim that Samsung is working on a new sensor, which will be between 18 megapixel and 24 megapixels, with a wide f/1.4 aperture. Even if Samsung is working some such sensor that does not necessarily mean that it will debut on Note 6, but still it’s a possibility. The chances are that it may have an infrared autofocus for quick focusing. Again, I need to emphasize the importance of the word ‘chance.'
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 had a 3000mAh battery, but the Galaxy Note 6 is going to feature a much larger battery than its predecessor. It may have a 4200mAh battery, which will provide you with hours and hours of backup, without burning your palm while playing games or browsing the internet. And also, it will support quick charging. For connectivity, Note 6 will have two different models of single SIM and dual SIM. Both the models will feature Nano Sim. It could also feature USB type-C port. But the main problem with this will be, no more compatibility with Gear VR headsets, which currently supports microUSB only. When Samsung uses USB type-C port in their phones, then it will also be forced to feature on the second generation version of Gear VR. Other basic connectivity options will be Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/nac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, Hotspot; Bluetooth v4.2, A2DP, EDR, LE; GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, and NFC. It will not have FM radio
We cannot say much regarding the positives and negatives of the phone, but the battery of this phone is touted to be awesome. And the expected processor is very powerful, and there will be no lagging in the phone, and that would be ensured by 6 GB of RAM. The curved screen will be awesome, but there could be problems with 3D touch as we have seen in some other phones.WHAT WE LIKED
