Samsung has been giving a tough competition to Apple’s iPad with its tablets ever since the launch of iPad in 2010. Undeniably, competition seems to be getting just bigger and better as Samsung has come up with many Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab variants. Earlier versions of Galaxy Tab were quite successful, and now it is time for their successor to take charge. Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 was supposed to be launched in June-July of this 2016. It is worth mentioning that in the past two years Samsung has launched their Tabs in the same month. This time, they haven’t set the ball rolling. Now, we know the Galaxy Tab S3 is almost here, and with its images and specs being leaked, we are pretty sure that it will be out before February 2017. Hopefully, Galaxy Tab S3 will be out in the first week of January at CES 2017, or in late February at MWC 2017. We have enough information about it to get you to know what’s in the smartphone. Let us see what else it might have for us –
There are several images of Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 which are already out (leaked), so we know pretty well about its design. It will be launched in two variants. One will have a 9.7-inch screen, while the other one will have an 8-inch screen. Other than that, the design of both the tabs will be same. The design is very similar to that of its predecessor Galaxy Tab S2, but there’s one difference, though. The display’s aspect ratio has been changed. Earlier it was 4:3, but now we might get the Tab S3 with an aspect ratio of 16:10. The volume rocker and power keys will be on the right-hand side. At the front, the home keys will have capacitive buttons around it and above the screen, there will be a 2-megapixel front camera which will have sensors and the earpiece beside it.
The USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer will be placed at the bottom. Samsung is not looking to ditch the audio jack very soon. The 3.5 mm audio jack will be at the top, as usual. There will be nothing on the left side. At the back, we have seen an 8-megapixel camera at the top centre, along with a single LED flash. It will be available in two colours: black and white. The Tab S2 was made available in gold, so that may be counted as the third possible colour option. The screen will be 8 inches and the 9.7-inch display, with the same resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chipset, which will have an octa-core processor (4 x Cortex A72 and 4 x Cortex A53) running max at 2.02 GHz. It will be backed by at least 3 GB of RAM. Both the versions of Galaxy Tab S3 will have a minimum of 3 GB of RAM. The benchmark results will come out once the device is launched and we get our hands on it.
But as far as the configuration is concerned, it looks wonderful on a tablet. This device will probably sport Android v6.0 Marshmallow. The phone will be available with 32 GB/64 GB of internal storage. There will be no microSD card slot available.
We do not have enough information about the cameras of Tab S3, except that the front camera will be a 2 megapixel one and at the back, it will have an 8-megapixel shooter with single LED flash. Both the cameras will be capable of recording videos at 1080p.
The 8 inch Tab S3 will have a 4000 mAh battery, while the 9.7-inch one will supposedly have a 6000 mAh battery. It will be available with an option of LTE model. Remaining connectivity options will be Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band, hotspot; Bluetooth v4.0; GPS with A-GPS.
