The G8541 from Sony is not yet officially announced but has been identified on the GFX bench. This will be the first device to host Android v8.0, Oreo. The smartphone is expected to arrive in two variants – phablet and tablet. The phablet is expected to have 6.2-inches of FHD display whereas the tablet would have 12.3-inches UHD display. The other features remain the same for both the variants.
Sony G8541 comes loaded with Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC octa-core processor and 4GB of RAM. It is backed with a huge battery and also with turbo charging feature. There are many other exciting features that the phablet has to offer. It is expected to be priced not high but at the upper side of the budgetary level.
Sony has not yet announced any details about their upcoming phablet G8541. We are still not clear about the dimensions or the exterior panel of the phone. The phablet is expected to flaunt a huge screen of 6.2-inches which is of IPS LCD Capacitive touchscreen having a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The display is protected with an exterior glass against scratches. A bigger display with higher resolution would be a treat for the eyes while watching HD videos or images.
With the leaked images it appears that the phablet with rectangular shape will have sharp edges. The body of the device is metallic and will come in various colors, though the same is not confirmed yet. The primary camera with flash is on the rear side and the front side we can find secondary camera placed. There are home and navigation buttons placed within the screen. The screen also doubles as a fingerprint scanner for quick access. Overall, the make and appearance are a premium when compared to the price.
Sony’s G8541 would be one among the few or may be the first one to run on the latest Android 8.0, Oreo. It is powered by an octa-core processor of 2.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC which we expect it to be Snapdragon 835. This is backed with 4GB of RAM. The combination will enable fast processing and lag-free performance even during multi-tasking. The phablet will have GPU of Adreno 540.
The G8541 phablet is packed with dual SIM slots which are of nano type and will support 4G with VoLTE. It also has a large internal memory space of 128GB which can enable you to store videos, images or apps of your choice. In case if you go short of it anytime, then there is microSD card slot to expand the memory up to 256GB. It is also enabled with a fingerprint sensor on the screen for extra security.
Sony is popularly known for its Feature-enriched cameras to capture sharp and high-quality images. The rumored G8541 is expected to host 18MP of rear camera with LED flash. The camera comes with many features like touch focus, geo-tagging, HDR, face detection, panorama, etc. It is best suitable to do landscape photography or shorter distance captures. The front camera is of 12MP without flash and can click beautiful selfies or can also be used for video calling.
The front, as well as rear cameras, are expected to be enabled with 4K recording. The phablet will be enabled to support various audio and video formats. There is no confirmation on the presence of FM radio but it will have a 3.5mm audio jack for an audio output through microphones.
Sony G8541 is expected to be powered by a huge battery, the capacity of the same is still not known. But we have information that battery is enabled to support turbocharging.
The dual SIM slots of G8541 are enabled to support internet connectivity up to 4G with LTE. It will support 2G network of bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900; 3G of bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100; and 4G of speed HSPA 42.2/ 5.76 Mbps, LTE Cat4 150/ 50 Mbps.
Among the wireless connectivity, the phablet will be enabled with GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, Bluetooth 4.2, Wifi, WLAN, Wifi Direct, Hotspot, NFC, etc. It will have micro USB 3.5mm for wired connectivity.
The rumored phablet is also expected to be embedded with various sensors like fingerprint, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.
