Sony seems to be putting a huge effort in its flagship smartphones recently. In the second quarter of this year, Sony is all set to launch its flagship device Xperia XZ Premium. The reason people are excited about this smartphone is that it would be the world’s first smartphone with a 4K HDR display. Not only that, it will feature groundbreaking hardware too. Sony announced the phone at MWC 2017 and is expected to be out in the markets soon.
The phone has seamless flowing lines, a rectangular design with stunning glass surfaces. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium has an ergonomic design that catches its user’s attention automatically. The volume rocker, power button, and camera shutter button are provided on the right edge of the phone, while the SIM card tray is on the left edge. The external dimensions of the phone are 156 x 77 x 7.9 mm (6.14 x 3.03 x 0.31 in) and weighs 195 grams. The IP65/682 rated construction ensures that the phone is resistant to both rain and dust.
Let’s talk about the USP of this smartphone. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium features a 5.46 inches 4K HDR Display that provides a screen resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and roughly translates to 807 pixels-per-inch pixel density. The display is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection which makes it resistant to scratches. The display will scream for attention, as it will be the best display in the whole world. The display would be HDR10 compliant and would take the viewing experience to the next level.
According to the official specifications, the phone will be powered by Octa-core (4x2.45 GHz Kryo & 4x1.9 GHz Kryo) processor that will be is backed by a Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chipset. The processor will be powerful enough to play all kinds of videos and games without any interruptions. Heavy applications, heavy multitasking and graphic intensive 3D games will be played without any problem. The Adreno 540 GPU will ensure that graphic performance is top notch. The smartphone will offer 64GB of internal storage and the internal storage could be expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card. The phone will run on latest Android platform and shall work on Android OS, version 7.1.1 i.e. Nougat. The Motion Eye camera provided in the phone has a unique memory stacked sensor that can records videos at 960 frames per second resulting in a Super slow motion video. The Motion Eye camera used in the phone features Predictive Capture, which is a unique technology. The front camera comes with 13MP camera with 22mm Wide-angle lens F2.0 and SteadyShot with Intelligent Active Mode (5-axis stabilization). FHD Video recording can be done by the camera. Talking about multimedia, the smartphone will sport stereo loudspeaker with S-Force Front Surround. A 3.5mm audio jack with active noise cancellation and dedicated mike is also provided in the phone.
The smartphone will come with a 3230 mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery. The battery will have a unique Qnovo Adaptive Charging and will support fast charging (Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0).
