Sony has a longstanding tradition of creating exceptional smartphones that tend to stand out among the rest. The Sony Xperia Z4 is no exception. The phone features states of the art technology combined with Sony’s best technology, thus, making it a powerful smartphone. The phone sports the traditional approach of Sony towards smartphone design i.e. its signature Omni-balance look, thus giving the phone a really stylish look. So, let’s see how this phone pans out in practicality and if it needs the attention, it boasts to deserve.
Talking about the external dimensions of the phone, it has physical dimensions as 5.75 x 2.83 x 0.27 inches, which makes it an optimum sized phone. The phone weighs 144 grams, which is not that heavy. Regarding the color variants of the phone, it comes in four color options i.e. black, white, copper, aqua green. Overall, the phone has an aesthetic appeal rather and looks like a shiny piece of metal. The one downside we did observe with this smartphone is the fact that it attracts a lot of fingerprints and smudges. Talking about the display of this phone, the Sony Xperia Z4 features a 5.2 inches display that provides a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels that roughly translates to 424 pixels-per-inch pixel density. The display looks decent enough. However, some people find the display paler than other smartphones present in its category. The display comes with the usual Sony features, such as Triluminos, Live Color LED, and X-Reality.
The phone is powered by an Octa-core (4x1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x2.0 GHz Cortex-A57) processor which is backed by a Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 chipset, thus, making the phone a powerful device. The octa-core processor makes sure that the smartphone experience remains pleasant and the games and videos play without any lags or hiccups. The smartphone offers 32GB of internal memory, which could be expanded up to 256GB using the microSD card slot provided in the phone. The phone runs on Android OS, version 5.0.1 (Lollipop), version 6.0.1 (Marshmallow), with planned upgrade to version 7.0 (Nougat). To make the interface user-friendly, the smartphone is backed by a 3GB RAM. The phone offers single-SIM functionality and supports 4G/LTE networks.
The phone features a 20.7-MP primary camera that is supported by a LED flashlight, and the front shooter is provided with a 5.1 MP camera. The images captured by the phone are well balanced, and the low light photography is great, too. However, there are few downsides associated with the camera. The phone tends to overheat a lot while clicking pictures and recording videos; the overheating occurs at a level that the camera force closes to let the device cool. There seem to be firmware fixes for this issue, but then again it’s not fully resolved. Talking about multimedia, the phone features a stereo loudspeaker, 3.5mm audio jack with active noise cancellation and dedicated mic. The phone also features MP4/XviD /H.265 player, MP3/WAV/eAAC+/Flac player, Photo/video editor and a Document viewer.
The battery provided in the smartphone works averagely. Having topped with a 2930 mAh Li-Ion non-removable battery, this phone can work for an entire day with light to moderate usage. The phone also supports fast charging. The smartphone also backs the basic functions, such as Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/nac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, Hotspot, Bluetooth version 4.1 with A2DP and aptX, A-GPS, BDS and GLONASS, FM Radio and microUSB version 2.0.
