As everyone still waiting the release of Xiaomi’s upcoming Redmi version, Redmi Note 5, there is a rumor about the launch of its successor as well. Xiaomi seems to release the Plus version of Redmi Note 5. Where the Redmi Note 5 belongs to affordable price segment, the Redmi Note 5 Plus seems to be of middle budgetary segment due to the enhancement of the features. The company has planned to launch the Redmi Note 5 in the month of November 2017 and there is a rumor that it might unveil the Note 5 Plus on the same event.

Similar to the predecessor, the Note 5 Plus may be available in different variants and they will be priced accordingly. The phone is expected to host dual primary camera.


The design of Redmi Note 5 Plus hails from the predecessor and we did not find any major changes, except the quality of the panel. The device is wrapped in matte finish cover which makes it easier for the user to hold. There is a dual camera with flash placed on the rear side which is above the fingerprint sensor. The power button volume controller is placed on one side for easy access.

The front side flaunts 5.5-inches of full HD IPS LCD display of 1080*1920 pixels resolution. The screen is expected to be covered with a corning gorilla glass as a protection against scratches. The legibility of the display is also superior even when exposed to direct sunlight. the external buttons and the home button seemed to be placed below the screen From the available images, the phone looks superior.


Like the predecessor, the Redmi Note 5 Plus is also expected to be configured with Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset with a quad-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz, Cortex A53. It is expected to run on the Xiaomi’s proprietary operating system MIUI 9 wrapped in Android Nougat 7.0 version. The device is backed by a 4GB RAM that ensures lag-free performance even while playing games. Though it is a rumor that Xiaomi might launch two variants with lesser RAM capacity at a low price to attract even those belonging to low budget.

The internal default memory storage would be 64GB which is enough to store required number of apps and other data. If the user falls short of it, the same can be expanded up to 128GB.The device hosts dual-SIM which is enabled to provide internet connectivity up to 4G with VoLTE. It is inserted with Adreno 508 graphics card. From the leaked images we can observe that the phone is embedded with a fingerprint sensor that enables the user to identify multiple touch options and can unlock the phone in the fraction of seconds.


The Redmi Note 5 Plus is expected to be shipped with dual primary cameras of 16MP and 5MP on the rear side. There is an LED flash accompanied by the dual cameras that enable bright and clear pictures even in low lighting conditions. The dual cameras host settings of exposure expansion and ISO control. They are loaded with features like face detection, digital zoom, autofocus, touch to focus, HDR, continuous shooting, panorama, etc. One can expect high-definition picture quality images from this camera.

The front camera is expected to be of 13MP assisted with LED flash to deliver beautiful selfies anytime, anywhere.

The video recording can be performed with the cameras at the speed of 30 frames per second that delivers the video quality of 1080 pixels.

The Redmi Note 5 Plus is expected to have FM radio along with a 3.5mm audio jack.


The successor of Note 5 is expected to be backed by a powerful battery which is of 4000mAh capacity. The battery is of Li-Ion non-removable type and supports quick charging. It will last for more than a day on moderate usage. The user may not fall short of it as the turbo-charging feature will be at the rescue in an emergency.

The Note 5 Plus is encompassed with dual SIM similar to the previous versions of Xiaomi smartphones. Both the SIM slots are enabled to support 2G, 3G and 4G accompanied with VoLTE in the form of internet connectivity. About the wireless connectivity options, the device seems to offer Wifi, Wi-Fi 802.11, ac/b/g/n/n 5GHz, GPS, GPS with A-GPS, Glonass, Hotspot, Bluetooth v4.2, NFC, etc. For the wireless connectivity, it may have micro USB 2.0.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Plus is configured with many sensors like Fingerprint, Light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Compass, and Gyroscope.


The Redmi Note 5 Plus is an extended version of Note 5. Though there is no detailed information from Xiaomi, with the leaked data we can expect it to be a quality enriched smartphone.
