Xiaomi has recently announced the launch of two smartphones in budgetary segment under the ‘Y’ series. One of them being Redmi Y1 Lite, which is a budgetary device and has features similar to that of Redmi Note 4A. The phone runs on Android 7.0 and targets budgetary users from the Android segment. The Y1 Lite will to be releasing in the month of November 2017 and will be available in colors of Golden and Dark Grey.
The Redmi Lite Y1 is hosts decent cameras, Snapdragon processor and 2GB RAM. The battery is big enough to support throughout the day. The 16GB phone supports dual-SIM with dedicated card slot for memory expansion. Despite being a low priced smartphone, the Redmi Y1 Lite is shipped with elegant features.
The design of Redmi Y1 Lite is similar to that of Note 4A. The device is packed in a non-metallic panel with a rear camera and LED flash on the backside. The front shooter is placed just above the display. The home and navigation buttons are externally placed below the end of the display. The volume controllers and power button are placed on one side for easy access. The phone is sleek and has a metallic rim running over the edges. The phone looks decent and easy to hold in hand.
The smartphone has a 5.5-inches IPS LCD HD screen that has a resolution of 720*1080 pixels. The display is big, clear and colorful. It is legitimate enough in bright light as well. The appearance of the phone and the quality of the display, both are superior when compared to the other similar devices in the given price range.
Even though Xiaomi has smartphones belonging to different price segments, their performance has always been superior to that of another phone in similar price range. The Redmi Y1 Lite is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 SoC quad-core processor which is clocked at 1.4GHz. The processor is also accompanied with a 2GB of RAM which enables smooth performance of the phone. The device is runs on the proprietary operating system, MIUI 9 wrapped with Android Nougat 7.0.
The internal memory of Redmi Y1 Lite is 16GB which is also big enough at this price range. The memory is further expandable by inserting a microSD card in the dedicated slot given on the phone. Along with this, the device has a slot of two SIMs which are enabled to provide connectivity up to 4G and Voice over LTE.
The cameras of Xiaomi smartphones are always better than other devices of this category. The Redmi Y1 Lite, though entry-level smartphone, comes with a primary camera of 13MP along with LED flash. The camera is loaded with features like autofocus, face detection, panorama, HDR, etc. and can click bright pictures even in low lighting conditions because of the presence of flashlight. The secondary camera is of 5MP which is perfectly good to click beautiful selfies and video calling.
The video recording of quality 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second can also be performed with the cameras.
The Redmi Y1 Lite would support videos of types that can be played on MP4 and H.264 player. It also would support audios of types MP3, eAAC+, Flac player and WAV. There is an FM Radio and 3.5mm audio jack packed under the hood.
Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite is backed by a powerful Li-Ion battery of 3080mAh capacity. If you are a moderate user, then the battery can easily last you throughout the day. Usually, battery units of such higher capacity are not found in the smartphones of this price range.
When talking about the connectivity, Redmi Y1 Lite supports 2G, 3G and 4G internet connectivity with VoLTE. It has dual SIM option and both the slots are enabled with 4G internet connectivity.
Among the wired connectivity options the smartphone a micro USB 2.0 port, and as wireless connectivity options, it features 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Hotspot, GPS, Bluetooth, etc.
The Y1 Lite is embedded with sensors like magnetometer, compass, proximity, accelerometer and ambient light.
